You'll definitely need a joystick and even with that it'll take a while till you manage to keep the crosshair stable.

Always keep in mind that having good hardware (joystick, track ir, throttle, etc.) gives you an advantage that no training can offer to you.
Don't fell into the "I can do it with keyboard or mouse" trap.

One cannot over emphasize the importance of the right equipment for this Sim.
even at disadvantage with twisty stick, can't even keep your plane from side slipping for any long amounts of time or your wrist gets sore, and its really hard to hold your plane at any exacting degree of side slip when your trying to aim...

whereas with rudder pedals just a small nudge of your foot does the job, and u can hold the rudder exactly where u want it for as long as you want without it affecting your ability to move the stick, and without tiring out your wrist (and not all planes have trim, so don't go there )

Though one or two people can manage with a keyboard, almost everyone uses a joystick - it makes everthing so much easier. Even with the default stick setup you should find your aim greatly improved, but for best results you will probably need to experiment a bit with calibration: most people find it best to reduce the relative sensitivity towards the centre, to aid 'fine tuning' your aim. It helps a lot to have the plane properly trimmed too.

If you need help with setting up joysticks etc, I'd start by looking at Bearcat's Nugget's Guide here:

Edit: Link problem - Google 'Ubisoft Sturmovik forum' and you can find it there (It is also on the Mission4Today forums somwhere).
Hey, the link doesnt work cause there is a typo with an extra "." on url.
