Ha! They are a tad bit overpowered on arcade and the target info is way too small and hard too see.

The biggest prob i have with arcade mode is - it sucks!! its not even a flying game or a game of skill in arcade, its a case of whoever can shoot the other guy first! no disrespect to those who fly and enjoy arcade - each to their own.
Sime is where the real challenge lies, you have to get things perfect or you will fail. You try a complicated aerobatic manouvre and screw it up then its because you did something wrong, not enough speed, to much speed. It all matters in sim mode where as arcade anything is possible. The patch will be here sometime in julember so between now and then... best just playing with friends. |

I admit it I'm totally lost in Arcade, planes flying supersonic 20G turns left right and center. I don't know which to go for and by the time Ive chosen my target, ive already become someone elses. The times ive got a chance to shoot at someone my timing is well off thanks to the "Fast forward Physics". It takes a lot of skill to play arcade, but it isnt flying skill. Its more like the skill needed to be good at a fast paced first person shooter like the Unreal series of games. Its all about lightning reaction with no plan, no setup, every mananouver can be done instantly. Sim (and to a lesser extent, realistic) is the complete opposite and needs a different type of skill. You need to know your plane, think about your movement and plan your attack before you make it and manage you energy. Panzer, I can pull any aerobatic manouver I want in Sim just aswell as Arcade, its just you have to build up to it. (In WWII air shows you don't see the planes stringing stunts together in a huge combo like you see in arcade because they can't do it.)

i wish there was a mode that was sim settings but with target lock and radar. Kinda like realistic with no hud but with the full flight experience. I'd even take it without the radar. The only that i dont like about sim is how hard it is to find targets, identify them then track them. I mean i completly understand why sim is like it is but still, actually forget the radar. Sim + target lock = win (4me ![]() |

I use a pad and don't feel at a dissadvantage. Doesn't Edal use a gamepad and he is widely considered the best on PS3. Many of us who play Sim would like what stealth suggests. Three reasons why you are wrong and that you are the idiot.

Here is something I found, yesterday I bought the Saitek Av8r for the xbox. After playing with it for a few hours, I ended up with carpal tunnel syndrome. The thing has only 4 buttons on the stick, and twisting the stick for rudder while pulling back in a high G turn and all the while keeping an eye on ur target or using the gunner camera with the hat switch is very hard to do. The rest of the functions such as zoom and the map are on the base of the unit, and trying to keep the whole thing from rocking all over your knees where you have to hold it with your other hand sucks. No force feedback and the noticeable deadzone also sucks, and I can safely say that clicking in the controller to look is now not such a bother, even if you loose your rudder to do it. The ergonomics of the dpad are its saving grace, and not to mention it has more buttons. Plus, I have never had any cramps from using the pad and the force feedback with the precise control you have make me play way better. I cant wait for the customizable button mapping the patch will bring. A shameful fact, with the stick it took me 30 mins to down five Po-2's in a Spitfire...Needless to say I am returning it soon.

And you're wrong, most sim players would not like that addition to sim, they think that it takes no skill and doesn't allow them to "hide" from other players (which is all in their heads, cause of the map lol). That right there is a good five or so reasons why I'm right, if my math is as good as yours. |

I counted the reasons in your post and they don't add up to 5 by the way. I'm sure there are plenty of other sim players that agree with me (as addict does about the pad). A mode with sim physics but with a radar and pad lock would be quite welcome. The pad lock would only look in the right direction for say the nearest plane and Stealthfinger did say without hud graphics, so a pilot would still have to spot the enemy themselves. For me a radar would be ok, most of us use the map constantly as a radar anyway, and would be nice not having to press B every 10 or so seconds. Oh and with the patch not having an HDTV isn't as much as a disadvantage anymore. How many more reasons do you want that you are wrong? We weren't saying that sim should be like this but another mode between realistic and Sim. If it gets more players from realistic and sim playing together thats a great thing and a good idea for the sequel Descendent, you need to stop attacking people who have a different opinion than you. I'm sure everybody on this forum is getting kinda tired of it by now. And don't talk about what other people think when you can't possibly know how they feel without asking them.
