the plane isnt going faster but try looking out the window of a passenger jet a few mins after take off
it does not seem fast
but if you go like 150mph in a car it seems very fast

It was the most gentle of collisions but it made the camera move out with the "Crashed. X to continue text".

But the jet was just gliding along at an altitude of about 20m. I just had to sit and watch and wait for it to hit the ground. 35 seconds it lasted in that unmanned glide
I've actually bumped the ground and NOT crashed. I was impressed with the accuracy of the physics. Just barely brushed the ground in a turn, made my plane bounce up and roll just a bit, and kept on flying.

I think the performance at low speeds is realistic, except that WEP makes it possible to vertical zoom from low speed where it shouldn't be possible. Too easy to climb, affects the tactics of the fights quite a bit, reduces the advantage of altitude.

When I've been go karting, it's only about 30mph, but yeah, it feels ridiculously past. It's all about perspective. If you ever look up at a plane in the sky, it looks like it's going really slowly, but if you actually look at how far across the sky it moves in a short space of time, you'll realise it's going really fast. It just doens;t seem it
