Did you all just say the water over heating in the 109 is not modeled!? PORKED 109's not fair... !!!! no wonder they never freeze up after we damage those radiators!

No I know that over heating is on and does indeed work with the 109 in this patch. I think the op was wondering about a leak not causing over heating. It may be that it is a small leak, or who knows how much fluid is missing after a amount of time. Do bigger leaks or multiple leaks have the same outcome, the motor seems stronger

The overheating is there, it just takes a ridiculous amount of time to take any effect... go to single player and speed up to 4x and wait around for a while to see.

Water radiator perforated and you can fly for a long time at reduced power. Engine will seize eventually although temps will not increase (Bug?).

Water jacket perforated and you only have a few minutes before engine damage.

Also, don't pretend this is a 109 only problem. Untold number of Spitfires I have seen streaming water from that starboard wing radiator and they fly around just as long.

This.

And if you get hit and get 'radiator leak' damage message, you will find that the cooling becomes actually easier than before the damage - water temp drops. I need to re-check that in th every recent beta patch but this was really the case on Spitfire, Hurricane and 109 not so long time ago.

That is great! Maybe damage time just needs a simple fix.

I will test for long range timing.

Yes this was a fantastic fix. However, more helpful for red pilots as the .303 are not destructive but the massive amount of rounds means only 2 viable killing methods- 1. pilot kills 2. destroying radiators.

I have pretty much never taken out the engine block or control surfaces of a plane with .303 like you can in a 109, so the coolant damage model is very important part of gameplay.

This is also going to be a huge plus for the single player folk out there, as before you'd never be able to down any German AI planes except for pilot kills and severe oil failures as they'd all continue fighting on with shattered radiators. Will add a lot to single player immersion actually being able to put aircraft out of the fight. If AI could react to this new coolant damage by dropping out of formation to try get back to france when there's still a long journey to go, that would go hand in hand with this.

I am rapidly gaining respect for the developers again... these gameplay fixes are what's desperately needed.
