I was lucky Farber, I grabbed a couple of retail versions at the pre order price, think it cost me £90 for both!

I'm also a Win XP SP3 user and affected by this issue. But I don't see why I should upgrade to Win 7 on the off chance CLOD might start working. If they've patched the game so it's no longer compatible with Win XP then they should do one of three things
1. Fix the patch so it is compatible with XP again. 2. Make the previous version available as an option to XP users. 3. Compensate XP customers who bought CLOD in good faith expecting the game to remain usable on XP. I paid good money for this game and I don't see why I should be forced to pay a lot more cash for an OS update to continue running it, not to mention all the disruption an OS update would cause to other games and software I run. Upgrading to Win 7 is not a good solution. |

As a side note, Microsoft now offers online upgrade to Windows 8 for $40 (I don't know if this error is related to OS version and would it disappear on Win8 or not).

I am thinking this is a memory addressing issue given I seem to get an memory related popup when I tried to run post patch on my XP 32bit OS.
Personally I need to jump to Win7 for other reasons anyway, so my wanting to play il2 COD just brings that decision forward. Win8 I still an unknown for me to jump on that ship at the moment. Thanks for the comment though. Hope to back in the virtual air before Xmas. |

One clarification question might be, Is there any XP user [32 or 64bit] would IS able to run the last patched version? I've not heard positive confirmation of 'Yes, my XP box runs the latest patch with no problems' and also, we seem to be fewer in number overall complaining about this.
My thinking includes; a) that players use Win7 OS now anyway b) many past players have left Il2 COD for dead due to past disappointment c) most previous XP users have migrated to Win7 in order to play! d) we represent a dwindling minority darrincates, your OS is XP64bit right? ,,,,,,and also the issue? Wow! 'cos that blasts a hole in my thinking that this was more a 32bit Vs 64bit issue ..... It sucks. Kevin, darrin, I share the frustration. I feel cheated but I fear nothing is going to change. Defeatist? Maybe. Realistic? I think! For me personally, I've decided to build a win7 OS rig anyway. The XP rig will live on for other uses. Good luck with your decisions fellas. I have the same problem on XP 32bit SP3. After the official last Patch is the game not working. Menu etc is fine , but after loading the scenario the game crashes.
I`ve never used a beta and the old version , and before it was working fine. Additional I´ve deleted cache files and did file check with steam, but had no success. I´m really unhappy with this. Configuration: Asus P8h67 Motherboard with intel i3 2100 NVidia 550ti video card, latest drivers Windows XP 32bit SP3 latest patchlevel Additional Software: Avira Anti Virus Spybot search and Destroy One additional remark: When I start the game the menue loads. If I don´t start any scenario or flight and us the 'End game' button the game throws an error window on terminating. Sorry: but it is in german: Launcher.exe - Fehler in Anwendung (means Error in application) Die Anweisung in "0x0697dab4" verweist auf Speicher in "0x000000000". Der Vorgang "read" konnte nicht auf dem Speicher durchgeführt werden. Klicken Sie auf "OK" um das Programm zu beenden. OK It says: that the order "0x0697dab4" is related to the memory "0x000000000". The "read" command couldn´t be processed. Please press "OK" to terminate the programm. I think something is wrong. Upgrade to another Windows version can´t be the solution or is there any right or information to change the Requirements of the game I have not seen? I´m not happy to have a game what was working before and after official patch not. Maybe there are some setting hints to fix the problem? Any help (except upgrade windows) is welcome. |

Release a patch that returns my game? Or an option to revert to a previous version of the engine? Reverting to a previous version of CloD is a fix for most of these XP users with this same 'crash right when you would normally be showing up in the cockpit' issue .... It worked for me ... and now I have it forever .... and it runs great ... Last edited by darrincates2; 11-07-2012 at 12:29 AM. Reason: Proof of Purchase attached .... |
