CODSettings.jpg

Just loaded the patch, it gave me the option to lower textures and I think this made a massive difference. TBH the land detail still looked ace even on these low settings. My experience was a high FPS (45+ I reckon) even low over Dover

Not a new machine but decent and nearing upgrade

Reporting better performance on my computer. The overal framerate is higher, however I can still report minor stutters near towns and cities. Furthermore, grass seems to have a pretty big impact on performance as well.

The multiplayer lobby works excellent now, I can see almost 15 matches now, which all appear within the second. That is definitely an huge improvement in my opinion.

So far, I can report:

Major issues
  • stutters near buildings
  • Chat window in multiplayer functions horribly. It takes quite a big procedure before I can actually write something, and it's also blocked by a grey info window.
Minor issues
  • When selecting a plane in multiplayer, I cannot scroll down entirely, but have to click before I can continue scrolling down to "Create aircraft"
  • Both the text and the game itself are too bright in my opinion. A gamma slider would be useful.
  • When opening the map in multiplayer, it feels like zooming in and out is reversed using the scroll wheel.
  • Multiplayer score doesn't seem to function very well at this time

Thumbs up Getting better

For me the patch increased FPS and banned the stuttering (almost).
Everything max, ssao off, AAx2 @ 1920x1080

Everything runs smooth, except:
Flying over london gives me about 20 fps.
Flying low over london (rooftop) it gives me about 10 fps and some stuttering when flying over new (unloaded) terrain.

good improvement: better FPS and smoother game play.

While playing single mission where you intercept Bf110s with Spitfires I saw error message in console:
ERROR [SOUND] Sample bob/speech/gb/actor1/feet.wav not found

The biggest problem which still remains is that sometimes game controllers stop working and the plane flies by itself. There is a separate thread about this in Controllers forum.
This happens when I press F8 to switch to External view. After this I cannot control plane anymore. Also cannot get back to cockpit view.
(EDIT: found the reason why this was happening: I had 2 key press definitions for External View: first was F8, the other one I had cleared but not deleted. Once I deleted this empty key definition, External view started working and switching to other views also after this. And controllers worked normally.
BUT: I also noticed that there are always 2 definitions for this External view. Even if you delete the other, it doesn't disappear from the definitions list. So maybe there is a bug also in how this list works???)

more flying:
The game seems to totally freeze about once per flying hour. Everything just stops and it's very difficult to kill this process using Windows Task Manager. Meaning it takes a long time before the game actually dies.

Some online lobbies are password protected. Maybe the lobby list could show which ones are, so people not knowing the password could skip those?

Thanks Luthier!
My overall Frames are higher then before and I have less stutters, but when I fly at low altitude over cities, frames decrease significantly compared to the status before.

MSI 560ti 1Gb

I'll edit this thread as I test some more.

As usual run 1920x1200, max settings except: Building detail/amount very low, tree's high. SSAO off, AA off.

I7 (gulftown)@4GHz, 12Gb RAM, HD5970.

Tested quick mission: English Channel, Cross-country, London.

Overall stuttering is reduced, but not eliminated.

Roof/tree-top low flying around country-side improved (occasional micro-stutter's) was actually a joy and I ended up spending 20mins whizzing around in the Spit.

FPS in general the same. Low-level flight still around 25-35FPS.

But looking down at seat, FPS was 25-30, now 50-55 (not that you'd look at your seat). Although improved FPS looking straight up with only the sky to render, 100+ (was 70-80). Slight increase looking forward and out to the sides, 40 and 60 (35 and 45-50 previously). - channel flying.

London boxy buildings from distance, albeit not exactly attractive is certainly better for giving a feeling you're approaching a city (instead of pop-up at close range). FPS still around 15FPS (low altitude), although reduced stuttering, stuttering on first flight is still significant. **I did try reducing texture size, improved FPS, but still stuttered**

MP: I'll come back to that. Lobby seemed to work though.

Browser is sharp and fast, filter working fine too.

Server's are really unstable and crash or are down several times per hour (well, the one's i frequent).

Can join a non-patched server with beta patch, and non-patched player's can join a beta-patched server. Additionally, whilst I was on the non-patched server with my beta-patched version, the beta changes were evident on the Spit, aka stable needles and the engine tweak.. That's dodgy imo, is it not?

Not yet able to confirm whether the alternative dimension thing with player's all on the same server not being able to see each other yet.

Previous patch I used the community mod. So taking that into account, it seems this patch has made a lot of performance improvements. I eagily await the SLI/CF fix.

Engine changes for cough/cut-out overdone! Change it back please.
