If it's download only is their any reason why us Aussies can't buy the download version from the US or are there restrictions?
Cheers! |

"Interesting about the lens mentioned, A game publisher is attempting to charge double, yes double, for a download version of a soon to be released game. As far as I am aware the US and AUS dollars are at parity, or so close to it as not to matter... there's no packaging or shipping costs to be borne by the publisher, crikey, there isn't even any DVD manufacturing costs to consider and they want to charge us double!!"

electronic tagging by way of email and card account, plus more than likely each download will have some form of watermark/ prevention of secondhand sales by onselling the DVD, is about the only reasons I can see. Accuracy? who knows?

That is a pretty raw deal for us any way you slice it.
If we are forced into downloading our copies (please noooooo!) what would stop us from downloading from US and charging the credit card in US dollars? The Australian distribution channels would just force our money overseas to the parent company. Not a good move by the Oz marketing types I must say. I'll be watching this thread closely and am not going to put down a cent until I'm sure there is no other way but to get a downloaded version. Like someone mentioned before, if this is to be anything like Il-2 there may in the future be up to 5 installs on my computer. Sorting this mess out from a download version will not help. |

The Ubishop redirects to the local region page... trying to get through the US or UK keeps being redirected back to Australia.
Amazon won't ship to Oz. Best to hope for is; Ubi sees the error of their marketing or in finding an english version hardcopy (and hoping that it hasn't been region locked) outlet that will ship to Oz... or suck it up, forget the C.E. and pay double (compared to the US/ UK) for the download. How about drumming up a bit of public awareness in the media and see if it raises any dirt?
Here's a link to my effort on the 'Atomic' magazines gaming forum. http://forums.atomicmpc.com.au/index...howtopic=39802 (WARNING-contains bad language) Feel free to post your own opinions in the thread! Cheers |
