I have an awful feeling that we will be told the patch is not ready today, I hope I'm wrong but I just got that feeling. Anyways, lets see if my feelings were right 9 hours from now

I wouldn't be too concerned if it didn't get released today, If something else comes up it's for the best not to release it.

Cheers!

With Standard loadout and convergence in a Spit IIa.
Most people try to shoot from dead astern and centre line.. That means your loading the fuselage and parts of the wings with hits but nothing structural that will bring it down.

20-30degree diving attack angle aiming for middle of wing at 250yards does it every time if you hit the right spot.
If your taking off bombers wings every time with a short burst from a SpitIIa then something is very off with the DM Phat, that should be a very rare occurrence indeed.

Tbf he did say the right spot.

You can pour lead into a bomber and not hit anything important and then on the next run you end up flying through a fireball.

Bomber shld be harder to shot down. The fact that one wing fell of after being hit seems totally out of proportion with machine guns and 20mm canons.

You see fighter loosing their wings on gun-cam as munitions casing are hit by the bullet and explode (especially wing mounted canon shells). Bomber, especially British bomber) had flexible wing tank (sometime made out of leather and rubber like protective cover) and then don't explode when hit. They burst in to flames (orange ball of fire is OK) but with no destructive shock waves. However has the fire spread rapidly, the aluminium (or even faster with wings made out of wood) melts and there is rapidly a wing structural failure.

So IMOHO wing hit, ball of fire, fire spreading and then 1 min to ten mins latter wing ply.

Anyway, it's always sad to see that Wellingtons boxes are far easier to down than a single Blenheim .

Krupi is spot on, here's an example from when I was testing a new mission on server 2. This is one sortie, so only 15 secs of ammo. The first and last 88s were hit badly, the middle ones were much better. This isn't standard loadout or convergence, but personally I find that default loadout is as effective. It's shooting at convergence that makes the real difference.

The vid is also a reminder of what the game used to look like in the last official version.....

Like the americans in ww2 this patch is late with a year.
Lost all interest. Will try it once though just to see if they actually managed to produce what they've promised us.
