first impressions: very positive

as always i'm among the most blessed when it comes to side effects etc, nothing weird to report besides the grass on the hangers; no trees massed pop ups, no roads between channel, no FPS drop with clouds, nothing weird in the landscape thus far; i did see grass flashing on the screen once, when about to land

- clouds seem to pop on/off less
- the bullets ricochet really nice and render further, both mine and the AC nearby, overall a big thumbs up for tracers.

as for FM,
- the radiator now seems to affect speed
- i see it's noticeably harder to overheat the Spit IIa
- seems to be harder to enter a spin in the Spit
- enjoying improved speeds, like 290mph sea level; seems easier to catch those buzzard 109s, i'm certain they were having quite a harder time, they've been enjoying far to much advantage lately
- throttle back to good behavior
- blessings be heard, it's finally possible to climb up to 20000ft and maintain speed (didn't try any further yet; before beta 2 the engine died on me above 14500ft)

negative
- stutters slightly up, but not troublesome
- FPS drop remains when more than 2 nearby human AC
- sometimes the enemy human AC display a jumpy behavior, but that could've been lag

last comments:
- to all affected by glitches, test disable or reduce the graphics card OC if you have it; i have none, perhaps CLoD it's too sensitive about that?
- i had the new nvidia beta drivers before this patch (had previous beta) and can confirm it did very well for the stutters, had them reduced almost to none (especially noticeable on take offs)
- remember (once again) to delete the conf.ini on "C:\Users\USER NAME\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover" and empty the cache folder on the same path
- tested online on 4 flights in ATAG

edit:
negative:
- spoke too soon about the trees, now i get the massed pop up on a narrow square around the plane
positive:
- the stukas now have dive siren, heard them when pursuing a wing diving over hawkinge; how cool is that?
- better MG sounds with the browning

Ho hum. No improvements for me. Frames per second still capped at 27fps on high settings, and stays at 27 even when turning everything down to lowest. Not quite high enough to play, but just enough to piss me off.

I5 2500k, 16Gb DDR3, 1 Gb GTS450.

Il2 Clod, does not work like most games. Imagine you have a puzzle in a box (your PC) and all the pieces to make that puzzle in your hands ( your settings) you have to match the settings to your PC in a strange way. Some times more is better with Clodo... You NEED some things on high and some on medium etc, its not as obvious as it seems in my opinion.

I know what you mean. I think I've pretty much exhausted every combination of settings though, so I'll just set the game aside again until some later date.

Default Can't Even Play

This patch has ruined my ability to play this game. It will not even start, not even vanilla. I have re installed twice and verified the game cache an innumerable amount of times. Please, help me. How do I fix this?

I had to backup and then delete my conf.ini and confuser.ini files from My Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\ to get the older game versions to work again. Try that as well as deleting the cache content.

As for performance, blackdeath is lower AVG and higher Max and Min.

I redid back to back testing and here's the results at Max settings 1920x1080 4xAA.
(only 1 GPU operating as SLI is no good)

v1.05.15950 - (Last official patch)

AVG FPS 52 MAX 144 MIN 6

DX10 Alpha Patch (Prior alpha with fix)

AVG FPS 53 MAX 124 MIN 4

v.1.07.18301 - (Current beta patch)

AVG FPS 40 MAX 166 MIN 7

So clearly avg is down a lot while max and min are up.
Having said that, the game does look to be a bit smoother (was already very smooth for me though) but it's certainly a lot lower FPS in the external shots, especially on Blackdeath. The other tracks appear to be better however so its a mixed bag. Maybe it will be better from within the cockpit.

I noticed shadow popup from the trees in this patch compared to the last official and its a bit annoying!

PS if you want to go between versions keep a backup of your parts folder and rename it to keep a copy of each version.
You will also need to delete cache, and conf.ini and confuser.ini as I mentioned above as they vary from version to version slightly in someway. Remember to back your ini's up!

How did you install the patch? What programme did you use to extract the 'parts' folder?
