S!
Have you tried Mat Manager? It's a great program that gives you weathered markings and a lot more. the following thread provides a link to it:

The problem with Mat Manager is that it only works for the user, online no one else can see your markings.

New default national markings have been needed since the original IL2.

Thanks mmitch10. I'm aware of the program and it's a good one. I my self "add" the weathered crosses to the skins I DL, unless they're already included.

I was referring the default markings. No insult to 1c, but the default insignia look as though they just came out of the paint shop/show room and do an injustice to the default skins, specifically the new skins added to 4.09.

I realize they won’t be changed due to time restraints, but I figured I’d through in the suggestion. I just wish I’d thought of it sooner!

Does anyone know if it's possible to achieve the viewdistance=3 while running 4.08m? I remember seeing somewhere where someone (sorry, don't remember who) posted that you only needed to do something like swap the files.sfs and set the value to '3' and you'd still be running 4.08m but retain the extended view distance.

'viewdistance' is not a valid parameter for the conf file. Are you actually referring to the 'LandGeom' parameter?

Yes. My bad. I posted this between meetings...from work.

Anyway, I thought I recalled seeing somewhere this could be implemented while still retaining the 4.08m designation.

Just replace the il2_core.dll and il2_corep4.dll in your 4.08 Il2 directory with the ones from the 4.09beta.

Just thought I would post an update to my 4.09 dll problems.

It was not a problem with the dll's at all. Instead, it was something I had mentioned in my first post and in the end that's what the problem appears to have been all along.

My video card was going bad and that's what was causing the freezes and lock-ups. I replaced the card and so far everything is good, even with the original 4.09 dll's, which I put back in.

Not sure why I was locking up mostly in 4.09 (at first), but I was mostly working on the Slovakia map and that map seems to put more strain on the graphics than the other new maps.

I'm not saying that others were mistaken about their 4.09 dll 'problems', but just be aware that it may be something else other than the dll's.
