We pay $60 for games that turn out to be garbage, then they stack on DLC and we pay for that. Now, we finally get a great game and they are coming in $10 cheaper, way against the norm for the industry. So put yourself into the developer/distributor perspective. You work years to make a masterpiece, then you decide to throw the gamers a bone and save them $10, something other studios aren't doing. But then, people instantly complain about the price of DLC, which is par for the Live/PSN course. The devs and distributors could look at that as if to say, "well we did them a favor saving them $10 and all they did was complain about the DLC, so next time we're pocketing the $10 and focusing less on the gamers themselves."
When you take it out of a politically correct perspective and more into what's going on in the minds of the people involved, what I said makes a lot more sense. I think you and I are having some kind of communication misinterpretation across multiple threads.
I understand that the DLC situation is a good deal and that the DLC doesn't consist of anything that was removed from the retail game specifically for DLC(besides planes that come with preorder) which is neat. But if people don't wanna pay for it, then they might be missing out, but it is their decision to make. An insult doesn't help the situation either.

I'm wasn't miscommunicating anything by what I said to you earlier. The T-shirt thing was my only miscommunication. I understand the situation now. I don't know EVERYTHING. I'm not Jesus.

I'm happy to pay for DLC so long as it is priced right.

Wipeout HD recently got a huge expansion that cost about £8. That was pretty good value when you think of how much work went into that, and how much extra content there is.

I must admit I prefer the expansion pack style DLC (like PC) to sticker packs and new clothes nonsense; something worthwhile, not a blatant money spinner.

Think about it though. It must cost a huge amount to develop something like IL2 BoP. I think it's unlikely companies are able to support it for long after release. Business is business. I'm happy to support good work.
What other flight sims are there for PS3? Exactly. I'm going to support this one.

come to think about it, it's kind of fairer to knock out a cheaper game with bare bones multiplayer and then charge for dlc that fleshes out mp. There are alot of people that cannot get on xbl/psn...I only just manage on a 3g wireless network connection (no adsl/cable in MANY parts of the world)...and long term look at how much you play the game online as opposed to off...
sure whether or not my avatar has a shiny pink neckerchief is another matter....mind you...a Biggles scarf..mmmm...

I'm all for DLC if its an expansion to a game, adding new stuff 3-6 months down the line to keep the fanbase happy, it does peeve me though that the latest trend is to hold stuff back for release then charge a few extra quid for it a few weeks later. Or have something thats xbox only and something ps3 only, and then charge each console base for the one they didnt get on release. Looking at PSN lately, taking one example... of a newly released golf game.. within hardly a few weeks of it being out theres probably £50+ worth of DLC out already. Look at each item individually, and you think.. whats £1 for a new skin or in game item.. but then add them all up, and it's definitely a rip off in my view. Of course, I have the option to not buy it, before inevitably someone mentions that
I would love for them to go back to the days when DLC was free, but they won't. Once gaming went mainstream they started seeing dollar signs, then it got a little greedy. Asking them to give us free DLC for BoP may be too much, but maybe they could lower the price a little. DLC can make or break a game. Take HAWX, for example: they started with a great, albeit unrealistic game, and it had a huge following. But just a few months down the road, lack of DLC killed it off in a big way. The guys at 1C seem to be making all the right decisions and maybe they will read what we are all saying and make it free or discounted. Yeah, we have the option not to buy it, but none of us want to be the one guy in the room that doesn't have the new planes or maps. Status quo comes to the gaming world.

OK, you're not Jesus, but based on reading everything you've put out there I would give you credit as maybe a lesser-known prophet from the Mycanean era, so it's not all negative here. Let me simplify the statement that started all of this: Don't look a $10 gift horse in the mouth. We are riding a delicate balance between profit for the developers and affordability for the gamers. Recessions suck. I just hope that somewhere we can find a happy medium between the two, that's all.

As long as it is worth it, I really don't mind if all the DLC amounts to a $100 game. But that's just me. Many console users, like me, have been starving for a game such as this. And I can safely say I will keep this game and play it for years. I am the type that gets bored with games pretty quickly and I never have more than a few. I really liked CoD:WaW, and I sold that months ago.

And you have to think that BoP and it's sequal/next addition will be the best air combat games on consoles until the next generation.

the only thing that i think should be free at least should be the german cockpits for multiplayer, that in my opinion should be the only thing anyone has to stand on to complain about. to me at least it makes it look like the game was rushed or partially incomplete, otherwise how could you have sim multiplayer matches?

BUT that being said this game is looking to be one of the best games on the 360 and as such i will have no problem buying some DLC, especially since the cockpits are going to be thrown in along with the planes or whatever you will be buying, your not going to have to buy just the cockpits. the fact that the devs listened to the complained and actuallly replied to the feedback is enough for me to want to support this franchise even IF the cockpits were left out intentionally or unintentionally.

Hell this game looks so good id probably donate money to them if that was an option just to help support and keep this franchise going for more releases.
