In the UK, i've tended to find most ps3 games come out at and get knocked down to around the £30 mark (as with il-2), it's only the rare exception such as Modern Warfare 2 which have a much higher price than the norm.

I'm all for DLC if its an expansion to a game, adding new stuff 3-6 months down the line to keep the fanbase happy, it does peeve me though that the latest trend is to hold stuff back for release then charge a few extra quid for it a few weeks later. Or have something thats xbox only and something ps3 only, and then charge each console base for the one they didnt get on release. Looking at PSN lately, taking one example... of a newly released golf game.. within hardly a few weeks of it being out theres probably £50+ worth of DLC out already. Look at each item individually, and you think.. whats £1 for a new skin or in game item.. but then add them all up, and it's definitely a rip off in my view. Of course, I have the option to not buy it, before inevitably someone mentions that

I'm happy to pay for DLC so long as it is priced right.

Wipeout HD recently got a huge expansion that cost about £8. That was pretty good value when you think of how much work went into that, and how much extra content there is.

I must admit I prefer the expansion pack style DLC (like PC) to sticker packs and new clothes nonsense; something worthwhile, not a blatant money spinner.

Think about it though. It must cost a huge amount to develop something like IL2 BoP. I think it's unlikely companies are able to support it for long after release. Business is business. I'm happy to support good work.
What other flight sims are there for PS3? Exactly. I'm going to support this one.

come to think about it, it's kind of fairer to knock out a cheaper game with bare bones multiplayer and then charge for dlc that fleshes out mp. There are alot of people that cannot get on xbl/psn...I only just manage on a 3g wireless network connection (no adsl/cable in MANY parts of the world)...and long term look at how much you play the game online as opposed to off...
sure whether or not my avatar has a shiny pink neckerchief is another matter....mind you...a Biggles scarf..mmmm...

I would love for them to go back to the days when DLC was free, but they won't. Once gaming went mainstream they started seeing dollar signs, then it got a little greedy. Asking them to give us free DLC for BoP may be too much, but maybe they could lower the price a little. DLC can make or break a game. Take HAWX, for example: they started with a great, albeit unrealistic game, and it had a huge following. But just a few months down the road, lack of DLC killed it off in a big way. The guys at 1C seem to be making all the right decisions and maybe they will read what we are all saying and make it free or discounted. Yeah, we have the option not to buy it, but none of us want to be the one guy in the room that doesn't have the new planes or maps. Status quo comes to the gaming world.
