Of course if they are doing the 4.09 patch and then hope to release paid add ons later then they must know something about SOW that we dont otherwise it would be financial suicide to get involved in a project that is soon to be superceeded. So the big question is, who is financially supporting Daidalus?
If I understand, you are suggesting that Daidalus people are gambling on SOW failure to sell other add-ons for Il2. In my opinion it is highly improbable.
I see other three possibilities:
1) Someone is paying Daidalus people’s work, and only time will tell if it’s good or bad business.
2) Nobody is paying them, and they are people willing to work for free to keep going a game that has exhausted its commercial value, a thing already happened for Red Baron, to cite a case.
3) Daidalus and 1C have reached an agreement which is entirely their business.

No i am not suggesting anything of the sort, i am merely stating that it seems very odd for daidalus to be working for nothing on a project that is going to be superceeded next year by SOW, surely it is a conflict of interest for IL2 to have continued development when Oleg is allegedly about to release SOW. Obviously i have hit a nerve somewhere because Bulgarian is threatening to have me banned, good luck with that one.

Okay, so you’re saying that there’s no relationship between 4.09 and SOW release. On this we agree.

If you re-read my original post i was asking who was funding Daidalus, this question has brought about threats of bans (must have hit a nerve at someones HQ) and lots of teddies being thrown out of prams by the usual suspects. I have not stated anywhere that SOW is cancelled or will be, i just find it slightly strange that Il2 is going to go from strength to strength with Oleg's blessing when he is supposed to be close to finishing SOW, does that not seem like a conflict of interests to anyone? Also if Daidalus are truly doing all this work for no pay then surely it must of crossed thier minds that maybe this time next year everyone will be flying in SOW and their work will be long forgotton??

Now please discuss, without teddies and blankets being thrown.

Well, the problem is, that you never post a simple question. You always have a way of stuffing your post so much with assumptions, personal opinions, offensive content and daring theories, that the tiny, little, puffy innocent question in the subordinate clause truly has a lot of spiky things to hide behind.

e.g.: if the Daidalus-Team is making 4.09 and is planning to provide further content, why is that a problem in regards to manpower and resources for SOW? Wouldn't it be more logical to assume the opposite? That giving something to be done by somebody else causes less work for the one who originally had to do it?
And to the question who's refunding them, why digg trenches? Maybe Oleg himself does, because he never ever said that IL2 will be abandoned. He just said that SOW is his teams priority.

Maybe you could show me the way by posting a simple answer? Please re-read my post i have never claimed that anything to do with Daidalus is a threat to SOW. If you'd have taken the time to read my post properly you would see there are no assumptions there is just a simple question.

Isn't there any moderator here to clean this thread from the personel nonsense, this debat is driving?

If we (the DTeam) really shall participate in this room for longer, we wish a different kind of conversation. Thanks!

So as the question was, if we are founded in any way: NO! We do this in our spare time and despite the will of our wifes/GF's/RL-issues.
So what are our motives then? Hard to say... each member may have his own reason. But we all share the feeling, that the end of IL-2, as it seemed to be happen, wasn't simply acceptable. Point.

Hi Tree,

I gave a little contribution to 4.09 and and to aswers your question... I can say that nobody from the team will receive any piece of money for this.

By the way, the "non-sense" of making something for free, spendig hours research, modelling, programming, just for interest, dedication or call-it-the-way-you-like-it... well, it makes me smile. Following your way of thinking, I should not believe that you are wasting time reading the forum of a ten year old sim, someone is paying you to stay here and read every post... isn't it?

just jokin mate. I hope my aswer was exhaustive...

EDIT: Caspar beated me... lol

Just a thought but, I know atleast 18 people on my Xbox 360 list that bought Il2 1946 in the last month because they loved the BOP demo, so I think that there will be a nice little flood of of noobs coming to il2 1946 in the next few months. I also know a lot of people who are buying it so they can play Canvas Knights when the AAA crew releases it. There are a lot of WWI fans out there that never got IL2 because they were still playing RD baron 3d or one of its mods.

Plus to be honest I don't see ROF taking off like people thought it would.
Someone said Il2's comercial life is dead in the water and I just don't think its cold and rotting yet. I got a feeling it still has a few twitches left in it.

If Daidalus is thinking the same thing then they know they will get some work sent their way down the road for doing this new patch.
Even if they are doing it for "the love of the sim" They still know the exposure of this work can lead to new paying work opportunities. Hell we may even see them do some work on the next console Il2 ? if BOP does well. Then we have the future with SOW too. I'll say this too, I'm feeling pretty positive about the sime market over the next couple of years.

RoF is going to take off when they pull that insane connection requirement. There's people complaining that new patches have screwed up the game for them, but they can't revert to a prior patch, the new one is forced on them as soon as they start the game. Unbelievable.

I've been wondering how many more copies of 1946 are getting sold because of BoP.
