that is very fragile ground to justify making so many demanding and aggressive posts to oleg from imo. if its a direct face to face personal conversation oleg was having with a fan/il2-user, that is very different from an official statement making some formal announcements, or oleg speaking formally to a know blogger who will post his exact words for 1000's to then read. ![]() with the most recent simhq interview i see the news as being all good, the project is on track, we are getting many of the features we had hoped for like ground vehicle control added in at some point, more complex and advanced flight modeling then sims like RoF ar getting all hyped about, full dynamic campaign, control of individual flak guns, individual human figures with skeletal animation, etc.... the BoB memorial day in 2009 is in early july, and oleg just specifically stated that by the 2010 memorial day he expects to have many 1000's of people flying his new sim, then with everything we know so far i'd put an estimate of release date between november 2009 and march 2010 Last edited by zapatista; 05-22-2009 at 03:12 AM. |

Oleg: Yes, it is our general plan. Maybe it will arrive earlier. I can't say right now the exact date. But by October 2010 (if not before) Storm of War: Battle of Britain should have many thousands of users. Doug: At one point you commented that Storm of War: Battle of Britain was "60% completed". Considering the original scope has been expanded, would you be able to give us a percentage based on the new expanded project scope? Oleg: The main content is ready now. 10% of the content — such as the ships and some of the ground objects on the airfields — are all that is left to be done. At the same time we are currently adding new 3D graphic effects and other features to the Storm of War series engine, and make the campaign, animate people, test and retest, etc. During the year we will spend time completing the Storm of War series engine and the first project, Storm of War: Battle of Britain. So to say that it is now 80% complete would be accurate. The above does not say it will be released in 2010. Read the highlighted parts in context of what was said. I think we always lose something in translations from Russian to English. I suggest anyone with thoughts or questions go back a carefully re-read the interview. Don't skim, read it carefully. |

Any sane person would surely accept that Oleg has got some of his timings wrong on this project, that is not a critism of Oleg its just a simple fact. Yes these things happen but without reasonable communication then questions are certainly going to be asked about statemnets that have been made. I personally dont think that is unreasonable, obviously some of you guys do. I guess you will just have to live with it. Last edited by Tree_UK; 05-22-2009 at 07:05 AM. |

the only timing issue i see is that initially an evolution of il2 into BoB was due in about 2007, just before that we started to get indications of a complete rewrite of the grafix and game engine was planned instead, which pushed all work out by a couple of years. once that track change was established i dont think oleg ever quoted any dates or times
i am as eager as anybody else here, i just think that in the context of oleg working on our ONLY big hope for the next big ww-2 sim we can give him some positive support and encouragement. it is obviously clear the project is making major strides in its progress, and is now coming together nicely. |

I hear what you are saying Zap, but in the ghostfiles interview it was stated that we will get system specs in May 09 and release September 09, Oleg was subsequently asked if he had spoke to this person he said he had, he also did not say in any shape or form that the information was untrue, all he said was he was 'hoping' for these dates. Its obvious that the guy from Ghostfiles didn't just pluck these dates out of thin air or Oleg would have rebuked them, which he clearly didn't.
These debates are all brought about because of lack of communication/information if we have neither then we are left with 'speculation' be it positive or negative. I admire your optimism it seems to serve you well, i do not flame you when you post your optimistic messages, thus i feel you should respect my more concerted view. I also would like to reiterate that i have never demanded anything, neither i have i slated Oleg, the guy is a genius without question. I have only asked or inquired about information posted on this site either by admins and or Oleg. Most of my question are answered with pure speculation from those that claim to be 'in the know' - this does rattle my cage considerably and i am guilty of many sarcastic replies which i have now reflected upon after receiving a pm from a valued forum member who shall remain nameless. Now lets move on peace Last edited by Tree_UK; 05-22-2009 at 01:22 PM. |

Well Oleg mentioned ingame screenshots would be published starting by September this year. Until we start seeing a promotion purpose of the game i.e ingame videos and some actual footage we can be sure enough the game ain't around the corner.
2010 sounds most likely juding by all that's been said, nonthelss i don't mind having a year with RoF until BoB comes out. |
