he also said the other planes were like balloons floating by, sounds like he had a very high end computer to render a entire formation of B-17's with no stuttering. Probably had 3dgunners=0.
I would guess the bombers off line are like real bombers, (except the few that try and dog fight you), and it was just leading the target, and flying off, leaving the balloons behind. And avoiding P-51's. Bombers on line make it hard to hit them by flopping around, but their gunners also can't get you too easy., and one bomber against a fighter if the fighter takes his time, is no contest. I really wish that they would allow the QMB formation of four online, and let one guy flip between planes as they get damaged. Just three people flying bombers would be a impressive formation of 12. Cheers, Do you fly on line as Jumoschwanz? I'm il-2Crew online now, (much better name), & currently fly on the AleXserver, say hi if you are on there some time. |

I have not flown online hardly at all for a year or so after a member of a squad I belonged to for years died of cancer, he was the one who ran our server and after he was gone the squad quit flying. Maybe before the snow melts this spring I will try getting online, but I am rusty and I have trouble with my eyes now, I can not see good at the distance a computer monitor is usually at from my eyes. Just like in real life, if a IL2 pilot can not see good he is screwed.... S! |

1. Deficit of human players. Sometimes the server is just empty. 2. My eyes are not sharp anymore so I avoid dogfights and prefer to intercept bombers. Just wish there were AI escorts to spice things up. 3. AI bring more fun and diversity. For example, hunting for floatplanes. Agree that many ground targets are soft. But again, with few pilots in the air anything "tougher" would mean no chance to win the map. Is Vinni Puh still online? I was active there long time ago. Stopped to follow around 2014 as too many players used the game for "political" discussions.

I'm still around, though the Pigs rarely fly anymore.
Still have '46 on the hard drives, and take up one of the old planes every once in a while.

Yes, ten to twenty years ago we spent too much time flying this sim. I have a screen-shot of the stats page for Spits vs. 109s server saved from February 2008 and that month I flew 37 hours, a few others flew over 40 hours, and one pilot named Mux flew 109 hours!!! I loved the missions on hard-settings server where I would take off in a fighter with a bomb, fly at high-alt over the front line and drop it on a target, then hunt for and shoot down one or two other fighters before returning home safely. The stat I was most proud of in 2008 that month was completing 86% plus of 101 missions on hard settings safely, while most all other online pilots listed averaged about 50% over far fewer missions. It's good to see original IL2 video once in a while.
By the way, Fishyyy and Stephen197106 (see them in Youtube) are still doing the job. Views are fantastic with new graphics extender mode of Slibenli.
