Default 1st level of human campaign

Has anyone tried to eliminate all enemies and occupy all towns within 8 rounds? (golden trophy)

If so, any tip for getting that? I have to wait a full round across the river in front of the target castle before mounting an assault. Any better way to cross that river?

This game has me stumped so far. I capture one or maybe two towns but then hordes come after me and take them back. I need some serious tips.

I started out with the individual scenarios to hone my skills before trying the campaign. Now I realize the single maps are much more difficult. I am having no trouble in the campaign except as you say, that first one was the only one so far that I couldn't get the gold.

I was blown away by the difficulty of this one too. What's more, I guess the guy that won the contest beat that scenario in 4 turns! It seems impossible to me to even finish it.
