Default Night flying

Can anyone shed any light on the night flying missions?

I remember seeing a tiny section of a vid that looked like planes with invasion stripes and there were search lights in the sky.

It looked awesome, just wondering if anyone knows any details of the missions etc?

I think you should have posted this in the "three questions" thread. Because this question is more for Anton, who will be back on April 2nd.

Yeah you're probably right - just thought some of the historical buffs from here might be able to identify something based on the markings on the plane?

Yes, I think I can remember reading about that when the forum started.
I know they were used on D-Day to signal that they were Allied planes.

So...Maybe Anton can answer without spoiling mission?

Its a P-51D Mustang...my favorite plane...argued to be the best fighter of the war. The stripes are called invasion stripes...they served the purpose of identifying Allied planes during the war as someone mentioned above.
