The Battle of Britain Commenced on this July Day in 1940
On the 10th July 1940, the Battle of Britain began. This is exactly 75 years ago to the day.
A fly-past of Hurricanes and Spitfires took place today over Buckingham Palace. A jet Typhoon flew with a Spitfire. Six RAF pilots from the Battle of Britain had lunch with Prince Phillip at the RAF Club in nearby Piccadilly. London Display today: 1940:- Best Regards, MB_Avro |

Thanks, Larry!
This is what one of the RAF veteran pilots said:- "It transpired that we were doing something far more important than we thought. As far as we were concerned, it was just that there were some untidy creatures from over the other side of the channel, trying to bomb England and the United Kingdom. And we didn't want them to bomb us. After all, we never asked the Germans to start this nonsense, did we? But they did, and we had to stop them, and we did. "It's our country. You die for you country." http://news.sky.com/story/1516383/ba...-who-fought-it To these old men, their history is still alive. Best Regards, MB_Avro |
