After the car stops, and you have to get the fuel.

Where the hell is it?
I killed everyone in the town already and can't find it.

There are two transport trucks in the back of the town. Equip your fuel can, and you get, and click on one of the trucks. youll get a little symbol of a ring with what looks like a water drop in it. Once you click on the transport truck with that symbol, youll take fuel from it, and fill the can up.
