Well, so far I've just got no responses from the people there. I wasn't really looking forward to posting there, though - I don't know how I feel about BoS, given that 1-C dropped support for it so that the devs could "force" people over to BoS. I figured that if I didn't say something along those lines, I wouldn't get lynched, haha. But maybe I still will, if they hate CoD that much.

I don't really like RoF, WT is ok as a very basic (modelling-wise) "sim" (it's really a game, though) and as I said, I currently don't like the idea of BoS because CoD was abandoned. Plus, every combat sim I've played has had unrealistically awesome Russian aircraft and unrealistically mediocre German aircraft at the start, until people complain enough that it gets patched. If they follow this tradition, but also abandon BoS early, the Russians will always win (I think I'm only half serious about that...)

Awesome! I'll look that up now. I'm usually able to play (often online too), but it would be nice to know that I could keep playing it after 30 days of no internet. Thanks
Well, I post over at the BoS forums occasionally and check em at least once a day, I don't see a lot of anger at CloD or it's fans, they are just very clear (the moderators) that the usual pissing and moaning won't be put up with.

Frankly, I would not let the 1C/777 situation taint your view of the product they make, who knows, maybe it will end up being really good and then you will have missed out on it.

Anyway, everyone has personal feelings about the whole thing that seem to run pretty deep, I personally think there are so few good flight sims that it never hurts to just say screw it and enjoy them all for what they are

Well, except War Thunder, I don't do F2P MMO's :p

Contacting 1C is the only avenue people should pursue if they want CLOD to be DRM free. But I very much doubt that 1C will do anything.
There is no one left here that could answer the questions asked by him "plans to release a DRM-free"...he has a better shot over there with their access to the 1C front office

B6 is still here. Whether he would answer is another matter. I wouldn't bother going to il2 net for anything to do with CoD, as its a totally different game being developed by a different company.
Go to ATAG, install the TF patch, and enjoy.

Does anyone know if there are any plans to release a DRM-free (or less-DRM-full) version of CoD at some point? If it was released on GoG or even D2D I'd likely pick it up pretty quickly (depending on the price, of course). I just don't see any reason to pay $20 or so for a game which is apparently not that great and uses Steamworks DRM.

Also, while I'm here - how come CoD is no longer supported, yet Il-2 1946 is still being patched more than a decade on? I'm looking forward to the 4.12 patch for it, but I'm confused about why CoD will have no more patches after only 1.11. Different devs? Different publisher? Same everything, but the game sucks so bad that they've dropped it and ran?
presumably you are aware of the latest community patch and the plans for further development of Clod..

Dead? Not at all. More like finally playable! Community is releasing patches that rock. Pick it up now if you have a decent rig
