Assault squad GEM Editor crashes when right clicking

Whenever i right click in the editor either to add a trigger, or edit the mission properties like add reinforcements or an event the game freezes, then crashes to the desktop either with or without an error. a picture of the error is below.

This problem is very irritating and any help will be much appreciated, thanks
