Default AVI Conversion

Once I have recorded a vid using Fraps, I need some help converting it to something I can download to the forum. What is a good, free converter, and what format should I convert it to?

Thanks,

binky9

Are the converted files supposed to have the same resolution as the original AVI? Mine sure don't.

Am I doing something wrong?

Windows Movie-Maker.

Just click and drag the avi clips into movie-maker, edit, add music (optional), then upload direct to youtube using the resolution of your choice, up to 1920x1080, again from windows movie-maker.

Copy and paste the url from youtube into forum post.

Done.

You can also save a hi-res copy to your computer, which will be about 150mb for a 3 minute vid. The clips in avi format would be more like 15Gb. Then delete the avi files. Because they are huge.

Here's an example using the above method. Watch at 1080p to get an idea of quality;
