Well, to be honest he was reading. It's just that he read the wrong information from the wrong sources. ;o)

I was told that Oleg and his team where working on SoW indeed but that an other small group was working on the patches...

If there working so hard on SoW they shouldnt have started with patch 4.09 imo untill they really had the time to do it.

SoW was supost to be out in 2006, if it still hasnt reached that stage in its development Oleg was talking about than who know wen we ever see this patch... maybe After SoW is released?

There is no decent info on 4.09, only rumors and a lot of topics like this one one this forum.

People come here for straigh awnsers because this is supost to be where the developers and Oleg come and read and post there comments, but its always the general users who comment on questions like this.

Im not the only person who feels like this.

Contents of 4.09 patch are developed by 3rd party. They are not part of MG. People who are responcible for including those contents into IL-2 are busy with SOW and until they achieve their goals, they will not complete the final 4.09.

As far as SOW goes, people "in the know" never gave any ETA of SOW... they suggested some dates as possibilities, but nothing concrete. Unfortunately "some" publisher and several retailers had their own look at how development of SOW is going and produced their own dates, which created nothing but confusion.

This is well known info often stated by Ivan, Feuerfalke, and a few others. BUT I can understand if your not a frequent vistor and don't know the history it would be difficult to ignore posts from a few disgruntal members unwilling to accept reality.

Consider yourselves luck in South Africa, we have to convince our state run entity to update servers, I think we were play 4.04 for almost a year before we got them to update to 4.08.
So chances are when 4.09 gets updated on our servers SOW will have been out for at least two years lol.
And ditto to the rest of the post, no 4.09 until SOW BoB mile stone is reached (closed beta) will be my guess. And no I like everyone else here do not actually know anything but we all have our own opinions

AFAIK it takes maybe one afternoon to compile all the map stuff into 4.09 so the time exactly can not be the issue. Maybe there are some other considerations.. (like "no winter Slovakia for you boys until you make the beta version of BoB" )

Why not just accept 4.09b as an official patch. I have found it odd that some players still won't run 4.09 because it's a "beta" !
HL DF's are nearly all 4.08 aswell, considering that the beta's been about for such a long time and that the official 409 is a long way off, it's about time people embraced 409b as an official patch so we can have some sort of level ground to play on.

And wife bugs me about starting a project before the previous one is finished...

I guess that answers my main question: will we see 4.09 sometime soon or not? The answer is "not". Not ... until the new game is finished.

I find that thought process extremely weird. When SOW:BOB is released, interest in the IL-2 series will decline sharply. Why not release the final 4.09 patch while folks are still interested in -and playing- the IL-2 series?

Oh well... doesn't matter much anyway. The vacuum created by demand with no supply is filled by the 12,000+ folks working the un-sanctioned side of things.
