help!

i recent downloaded 4.11.1 patch without 4.11 already installed. When i discovered my error, i downloaded 4.11, but i still cant open il 2 1946, it loads to 5% then cuts back to the desktop, how do i fix this!

You already had 4.10 correct? Just checking.

Install 4.11 and then install 4.11.1 again. It should just write over the files previously unpacked and you'll be off.

Otherwise maybe one of the downloads is corrupt and you should maybe consider re downloading both patches.

thnks for the info but i actaullly upgaded directly from the boxed version, do i have to get EVERY SINGLE PATCH before 4.11.1? The reason i downloaded it was because i decided to try my luck at multiplayer and i downloaded 4.11.1 because all the servers ran it

If you do first link and install all seperately then launch game after installing evey patch just to check they are working Ok..saves time should you come across probs later..

Oh and once you have installed it the first time of the CD..copy and paste that installation somewhere so you have a CLEAN copy..again saves messing around later

Yes, you will have to download every single patch unfortunately. The links in the above post should get you going fairly quickly.

IL-2 is a very old game at it's core and it never had any sophisticated patching system to keep it updated (and STEAM is horribly out of date). Just download the patches and install them all in sequence (do the ones you've already downloaded in sequence too) and you'll be in fighting shape in no time!
