The problem is HARDWARE.
I have steadily upgraded my system, and as I have done so, the problems disappear one by one. This sim is years ahead of anything else. Most of us are years behind. The devs have reduced the specs to achieve compatibility with low/medium range hardware. HARDWARE. Best Regards, MB_H/Ware |

I've an i7 overclocked, a GTX580 overclocked and while I can play it fine, there are still many bugs that make it a less than satisfying experience for me still. with every beta i try it, yet to be blown away. trees, clouds, hit effects, smoke, dm's, fm's, the Clod shuffle, lack of aa........... I'll keep trying the updates, but no one in my squad is playing it anymore, myself included. everyone plays HSFX6, Rof or DCS. One day though, it hopefully will be a one hell of a game. The fact that we have had a number of beta patches indicates that the devs are conscious that it requires improvement, didn't fullfil anyones expectations and so work continues. I fully expect it to take a while to get right but in the meantime I will enjoy and appreciate the aspects of the game that leave the others behind.
For sure there are also some frustrating aspects but it is playable, for me anyway. I still like the occaisional sortie in IL1946 - a great sim and CloD will be as well so hang in there.

I was comparing to other WW2 combat titles which is the only period I am interested in. IL946 is a great SIM, particularly for SP fans and scores 10 out of 10 but I personally don't like the MP set up and different versions of the game required, mod packs, etc. The cockpits look very dated in comparison to CloD but I like them both for what they are excellent at.

I've got low fps -> You must upgrade your hardware!
I've got new hardware but still stutters due to tree -> Obviously, you have to turn off the tree! I've got new hardware, turn off the tree but clouds cause drop in fps -> But it is ok, it is a flight sim, nor a console game! IMHO they are excuses. I think that Clod community is still alive becouse we all remember the great works that Maddox did with IL-2 during the last 10 years. If IL-2 was produced by "XYZ software", maybe it would be ignored. |

Or is there some conspiracy with hardware companies so as we all upgrade constantly (said tongue in cheek just in case some sad sacks and the usual suspects think I'm being serious.. ![]()
