People talk about the historical use of aircraft and how it does not "work that way online in this sim"
They never stop to think about how each nation trained it's pilots, how tactical doctrine evolved, how aircraft between the nations involved had many unknowns concerning performance (as viewed by their opponents) and how anyone can hop into any plane in this sim, with no training, get in a furball, and walk away saying "This ain't right"
When you hop in a F4U, and engage a Zero flown by a human, you SHOULD get shot down if you are not securing your advantages
Boom and Zoom is not difficult. It's just that most online pilots do not have the discipline to do it. They think it means diving and climbing, they don't consider how it actually mean initiating combat and ending combat on their own terms, and how it's not the same as "dive, shoot, climb"
It's not case of "historically, this is wrong". It's case of taking the historical, real life usage of the aircraft and tactics and training, and comparing it with online dogfights, in which the planes are not flown historically, and there is no game penalty other than having to hit "refly" for using bad tactics and not being trained
Simply put, unless one side uses the tactics used by the Japanese, and the other uses the tactics used by the US, how can you begin to compare that with real life results?
