The amount of FPS gained depends on individual PC components. They said from the start that those who will gain the most from the new graphics engine are the low end machines. High end PCs that were already running it easily will just keep doing so with minimal FPS differences.

Maybe you will be able to turn up a couple of settings, or just see slightly lower FPS in exchange for more consistent FPS (less fluctuation = less stutters), but overall if you have a high end PC things will not be drastically different.

I don't have a link handy, but it was clearly stated by the developers at some point before the patch release. Hope it helps clear things up a bit
