Looking for a bit of advice
I was currently holding out for the GTX 670 but it looks as though it is gonna be coming in at around £300 (really i wanted to pay 250) and the GTX 660 is 6 months away according to latest rumours. The monitor i have is fairly low res 1280 * 960 (i think) and im not planning on getting anything either bigger or better (I run it at lower res anyway cos i cant see the planes on full switch) Basically is it worth shelling out on a new 6 series GTX when i could buy a 5 series and crank up the quality at low res. How much difference does the res make on performance Would there be much difference between the two in anyones opinion? Currently i am running a 460 |

I'd get a higher resolution monitor...

What instead of the GFX card?
I am limited by physical space at the minute. Desktop is on top of a small desk due to pedals underneath |

This thread may help a little: Does cliffs of dover works? post your specs....
But many (including me) recommend waiting for the patch ![]() Artist.

Game works fine - i have chalked up around 200 hrs since chrimbo at low/med settings
This upgrade is not just for CoD but ROF aswell - plus a few other upcoming titles my specs are i5 - 2500k 8 gigs ram win 64 really just wanted to find out if high resolution gaming hammers the card more than quality textures, additional scenery etc. Probably no one really knows |

I have a GTX560ti 2Gb and a choice of two monitors, One is the AOC 1080 HD 22" wide screen and the other a 17" - 4:3 at either 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 1024.
I like the 1080i widescreen but prefer and use my 17" 4:3 monitor for CloD. The reason is simple - the picture quality is superior - the 1080i AOC is absolute garbage in comparison. In a nutshell, a good GFX card needs a good quality monitor and monitor size is less important for me. I don't have the space for a super large screen anyway. The other advantage of a smaller but good quality monitor is that I can have higher GFX settings and the card runs at a lower temperature because of the reduced resolution. In fact, the smaller monitor at native 1024 x 768 looks better than my 1080 HD ( a regrettable purchase and waste of money).

You should be able to pick up a GTX570 fairly cheap now. The one in my sig is 1.3gb and runs the game fine with all settings on high, 8xAA, no ssao, @ 1920x1080.
This is online and over London. Offline and not over London I can run the game pretty much 'maxed out'. With your lower screen res, I'd guess that a card like this would run fine with 'very high' settings in general, then when 'the patch' arrives, happy days. |
