Sound Problems - English Version
I've emailed tech support on this but wanted to post here also to try and maximize the help I can get on this game.
If the postings I've seen here indicate that sound problems have been resolved in the English version - then they are sadly mistaken. I installed the game for the first time today and I am having huge issues with sound. I get sound OK when I start a new game and it works thru the FMV opening and partially into the game. But eventually the sound goes away and is replaced by an extremely annoying buzzing sound. The sound patch on the website will not install and I only get a unreadable message when I try and run it. I downloaded the patch from two different locations and both give the same result. I also ran DX Diag and had no sound/driver issues there. I did have an issue with checkered textures but that problem was cured by an install of the latest nVidia patch and a reboot. Regards, Glenn |

I ran the game and got the sound issue. Quit the game and started DXDIAG.EXE. I went to the SOUND tab and did the sound test with FULL ACCELERATION set. I found there was an issue when the 8bit mono 22kHz sound was played thru a HARDWARE BUFFER. When I adjusted the acceleration down to BASIC ACCELERATION that the sound problem in the game completely went away. Regards, Glenn |

i got it to work under win 7 with newer videocard driver!
hi all.
a shockingly surprisingly way I got YOU ARE EMPTY to load, running under windows 7 dual core with a ATI card with a "newer driver"! yes, I was one of those who could not get this game to load beyond the opening movie, I have read that it takes an older graphics driver and such, to run this game. well here is what I did. do not install the game from the autorun! bring up windows explorer to find the cd/DVD drive and then open up the files so that the contents of the game disk are listed. then under setup.exe, right click and find the "compatibility mode". set this mode for "windows xp service pack 3" and "disable visual themes" "disable desktop composition". --in other words, actually install this game under win xp compatibility. then have the install place a shortcut on the desktop and then check to see if this shortcut has the same compatibility mode set for it. then play. I hope this helps. freestone Last edited by freestonew; 11-25-2010 at 03:12 PM. Reason: change title |

unseen models
I am a fan of this game as well!
Even for non-fans, the reviews of this game are way too negative. But hey, what can you expect from Gamespot et al. As many of you know, the butcher didn't make it in the final game: However looking in the gameres directory, one can still find the files for this model. Has anyone found a way to check out this foe ingame? The .PAK files can be opened and their content extracted with a zip application, but I can't seem to modify these .PAK files with success! This is a good game,I finished it some time ago and the cutscenes were quite artsy, but still were nice. One thing that made me laugh(in a good way) was those giant chickens .I do wonder what the devs were smoking when they came up with the idea. I would have loved to have more dialogues, but it was FPS game after all so I can't expect too much story. |

You Are Empty is a first-person shooter video game based in a fictionalized postwar Soviet Union. The game begins with the protagonist waking up in a ruined hospital, and it soon becomes clear that the populace has been afflicted by mutation and madness. He then must battle to stay alive and unravel the mystery. At E3 2006 the developers of You Are Empty gave GameSpot a private screening of the game. GameSpot expressed interest in the physics engine, saying that it might "have some unexpected consequences".[1] You Are Empty was released in North America on October 16, 2007. |

Hello people, I just wanted to stop by and say I absolutely am in love with this game!
However, its not without faults. Fortunately, the game appears quite mod-able and I have fixed most of the faults I seen with it myself. But first, the good aspects of it: Quote:

Also, I do have a few technical problems. The post processing (I think specifically the motion blur) causes my screen to flash a solid color, rendering me momentarily blind. I can work around this somewhat by disabling a property in the player class code, but that only stops the damage effects. I would like to find a real fix to this though. I must contact support some time. And secondly, I see there is a lot of great music in the game files, yet I am not hearing much music at all in the game. Every once in a while on specific levels I will hear some, but not often. Is this just me? And does anyone know if there is a level editor out there for this game? I would like to manually add more enemies and ammo and stuff. Last edited by Captain Xavious; 02-03-2012 at 04:51 AM. |
