This is manly to do with building runway lighting.
I used to have a tool that would place objects between 2 points. Place a light at one point (end of the runway) and another (other end of runway). The tool would place lights in a straight line between the points at the correct co-ordinates, this was done outside of the FMB in the .mis file. I have lost this little tool that saved so much time, however I remembered the copy ans paste feature. With the copy and paste tool in the FMB I'm able to copy some of my old runway lighting templates but I cannot raise or lower the templates (200 objects) with F4 is there something out there can can do this or am I missing something in the FMB. I need either a tool for placing those long straight lights or a raise/lower function on Copy & Paste group objects. Thanks Last edited by KG26_Alpha; 01-30-2012 at 04:05 PM. |

I'm not sure I completely understand your question, but you can raise/lower objects (and maybe multiple ones) by pressing F4 and dragging with the mouse.

I have found that if you select multiple objects like the stationary lights you can not raise or lower them using the F4 and mouse.
As far as I have found, you can rotate them using the number keyboard but anything else can't be done.

This is from the 4.10 Guide concerning a new FMB feature:
-------------------- Snap Snap allows you to move objects along a grid. This helps placing objects with equal distance to each other. This option can be reached through View -> Snap. Make sure that the option is checked. You can also set the 'snap step'. Smaller step makes the grid where objects can be placed denser. -------------------- Personally, I haven't been able to get this to work. However, if YOU do, maybe you wouldn't mind posting a solution here. Aviar

Nope snaps never worked for me either.
DT have dropped a few past FMB features on You Tube before when in development, we would benefit from sample missions and YT vid's showing these feature applications in real time use. This will help us use these features as they were intended instead of wasting hours and hours on is it a feature or bug !! ![]() . Last edited by KG26_Alpha; 01-31-2012 at 04:52 PM. |

You need to move the objects after placing them on the map, then they will snap into position. That's what I missed when I first reported snap not working.
Guess for now we need to stick to copy and past for multiple object height corrections. |

Can't be ... can it? We're using the same software, so it should work for both of us.
Do you have anything that sets your installation apart from a vanilla one? Just to make sure, that's what I do: - start the game - go into FMB - open a map - zoom in - click on snap in the scrolldown menu -> a little pop up pops up - set hook at enable snap - select a light object from the stationary objects - insert it - left klick and drag it -> it moves along the grid in steps as big as I set in the pop up, it "snaps" - insert another one, drag it, snaps too, easy way to form a line with all objects at the same distance How can this not be working? |
