Default seems we are "special" people

yesterday i tried rof

actually clod runs smoother on my ssytem

but even being free it has only two populated rooms: neewbies and sindicate

now if you try call of duty there are thousands rooms

its like only 0.01% of gamers play air warfare simulation

so now i bet you dont go around talking about our litle hobbie

Yeah, I saw a 'raaaid' on the RoF Newbie server, and thought it must be you. Even took a shot at you.... Actually, 'Les Hellequins' server gets fairly busy too sometimes, Not tried it yet - I'll wait until I've got TrackIR before I try the 'no icons' servers.

The problem with using the free planes on the servers is that neither is particularly good at dogfighting against decent opposition: the SPAD 13 is a zoom and boom plane, which most newbies aren't going to use to its best advantage, and the Alb D.Va is just plain underpowered compared to say a Camel or an SE5A - still, I suppose that giving the best planes away free wouldn't make economic sense.

The fact is though, that RoF is like most air combat sims - there are far more 'offline' players than multiplayer.

Gratuitous RoF screenshot time. Me struggling back to base in what used to be a Fokker triplane - almost made it, but the engine quit...

P.S. Raaaid, I tried to send you a PM here, but I don't think it got sent - check, and if it hasn't arrived, PM me back...

One plane? It depends what you want it for, and how much effort you're prepared to put into learning how to tame the beast. I'm beginning to get to grips with the Dr.1, but I wouldn't recommend it as a first turn and burn rotary - it has a mind of its own, and getting it to turn left involves the most ridiculous battle between man and machine. The Camel is better, but has similar tendencies - though the biggest problem is a tendency for the engine to overrev, and squirt oil all over your goggles...

I suppose that for an online noob plane, the Foxxer D.VIIF is a good choice, as long asyou avoid turn-fighting Camels. For single-player campaigns, the choice is wider - there is something almost magical about pootling around in a Fokker Eindekker, knowing that this was the machine that (more or less) started it all - and it beats any later plane for all-round view, at least until the F-16 appeared.

S!

I do not find Raaaid's threads any odd or something. He uses his right to post here and it is up to the rest to read or not. His posts are maybe not the ones that fit in perception of most people, but again he never insults anyone or similar. Hard to say how old he is, but would be interesting to meet and chat this persona actually..what is hidden behind this character

Hi Andy, Hi raaaid

Well yes the D.Va is underpowered but nevertheless when you fly her you can do some good fights against the Roundel Fylers.
If you follow the Dicta Boelcke you have good chances to score even against a Camel. I like the D.Va and i like the D.III there but you have to know their limits when to decide to attack or not to.

Godd new year to both of you.
