I'm pretty sure dot pitch DOES make a difference. That was one of the reasons I went ahead and got the Dell 2707WFP 27" LCD. It has a native res of 1920x1200 which isn't as high as many larger panels (but still way more than enough to get beautiful images), but it had larger dots in all tests than the 24" panels. In a nutshell, when I run the same resolution as most other folks (regardless of the size of their monitor) my dots are larger and accordingly, easier to see. Having said that, I still run IL2 online at 1680x1050 with 4xAA and 8xAF, perfect, water=3. |

I guess it comes down to this, is IL2 all you'll ever play? Does seeing dots in one game mean more than any other factor? Remember contrast and colour will also matter in these sorts of things.
If your going for a monitor that can do 1920x1200 then I'd go for as large a monitor as possible that has that as its native resolution. Your going to be asking your graphics card to do 1920x1200 on a 22" you might as well be doing that on a higher quality spva 24" or 27" since you'll get exactly the same frame rate but it will look better. I really advise looking at www.widescreengamingforum.com before making any flat panel purchase since the reviews they do there really pull the monitors apart and show warts and all that other reviews don't even bother to investigate. |
