Tree doesn't flicker, instead what you see is aliasing created by leaf and can be addressed with AA.
Trees on CoD are crazily detailed, are even better that in some "ground" games!
You can't ask for 2D "X autorotating" trees as it wouldn't even resolve the collision detection problem which is not related to tree models complexity.
