Ok so what, is the consensus is then that he may well have been cheating with a modified plane code?

Sorry I'm new to the online play with this and with Il2 - I did think it was weird ive never seen a player online with over 25 kills and no deaths, plus he seemed to never run out of ammo and his planes climb rate and speed was off the charts.

If so what can be done about cheating?

25 kills and no deaths is not out of the ordinary.

Steam has the VAC system that should catch these people and they will have their accounts suspended or canceled (supposedly).

I don't know. I haven't come across a BF at high altitude (18K+) that wasn't a fair scrap against a Mk1 Spit. AFAIK, cheating on steam is protected. I will look out for it if that player is on.

No, it does sound a bit fishy, and from what I understand VAC does not instantaneously boot you if it thinks you are cheating, it takes a while. I am wondering if people are fiddling with the FM’s during beta’s thinking VAC will not be looking on Beta servers or Beta versions.

Very strange. In a rotol hurri I'm able to do alright against any 109. Granted they do climb a bit better, but not like what ReconNZ is stating.

I sure hope we aren't into cheating territory already.

That dedicated server SDK could come out at any time please!

One explanation on Mr.X racking up kills is that I play on the server. But seriously I think he is getting a lot of kills on inferior pilots like myself. Others on comm's have also stated that he is quite good and picks his fights very well. Until proven otherwise I'll assume he is quite skilled.

Back on topic: The ATAG guys have made it apparent they are as split on what to do as the rest of us and thats why they are asking for feedback. I don't know myself but I know the Mk2 won't magicly make me an ace in the air. I was shot down in it when it was available. Hey, stop laughing!

In all seriousness I don't like the idea of withholding the plane entirely. I think it should be left up to the honor system. I know this isn't really a fix when talking about playing on the internet because we all know there are those who simply want to grief. But there are fixes available to bad behavior that could be brought on by that situation.

If I had to take a guess Blue is scoring more kills than Red without the Mk2 and also has more (skilled)players. When the Mk2 is added the teams seem to even up a bit.

I'll play on the server with or without as long as I am having fun. But withholding a plane has to be taken seriously because one day Blue might get a plane that outclasses any Red and where will all the "Mk2 has to go!" folks be when its their plane that is being withheld? Just a thought to chew on.

Well that would depend on whether the Red planes have the correct FM's or not wouldnt it?

I mean this is only about the SPit2 because it outclasses everything a bit more than it should do...
