Campfire/Matchbox

Anyone know what the matchbox is supposed to be used for - If I get one of my squad to uses it it just creates a campfire for a while???

What is this for - how do you actually make use of it in the game?

In the earlier Games(SHoWW2, FoW) you were sometimes asked to make a signal fire or you could start a fire in a field to clear it of enemy.

Yes, I also remember torching wheat fields with matches in previous games of the series, a great way to increase LOS and prevent enemies from sneaking up on your position.
