The fuel won't reach the engine so the combustion isn't good, so you get dirty thick smoke and the engine may stop.

It is possible that it is related with altitude too, because on high altitude is less oxygen, so the combustion will be different.
I could be wrong but in reading Black Cross and Red Star the accounts mention the fact that when the Bf109 would be put into a dive the Throttle Command system would enrich the mixture thereby producing trails of smoke out of the stacks. The Russians would think they had gotten kill when in fact they had not. More conjecture, story telling?

Would this happen at max throttle settings, with MW injection, the mixture would be enriched automatically prevent pre-detonation and produce the smoke trail?

Finally downloaded UP3.0...followed the instructions down to the letter...when i click on the new desktop icon I get the following message pop up:

UP3.jpg

Have contacted the UP website but not expecting an speedy reply...has anyone else had this?

Have never modded before so not sure if this is normal or not.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, its normal.
You need to install the game in another folder, wherever you want except Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders.

Thanks Aracno.

Does that mean a dreaded re-install of game, patches and UP3? Or can I simply move the folder to another drive?

I'm not an UP3 users, so i dont know if the installations was finalized when you installed in that foder.
You must try.
The best thing is to have a clean copy somewhere for backup (4.10.1) and than make a copy for the modpack.
You can move, copy and past the folder wherever you want, so you can also have multiple install.

I have no idea about that, but it sounds interesting.
In a CloD Friday update a long time ago somebody posted a picure of different exhaust flames which can occur. It was a nice picture which Team Daidalos could maybe use.

I'm sure the smoke can be affected by fuel type. The Germans didn't have very good fuel compared to the allied fuel. So maybe it produced more smoke at full throttle.
I'm not an expert though I think there are many people at this forum who know more than me about engines, combustion and smoke types.
