and then good to go ??
Steam will only upgrade the game to the latest release version. The beta patch requires a manual download and install as you have found out.

Once it is stable it will be put on steam as an automatic download.

Cheers!

Initially OK, but experienced screen freezes after a few minutes into some missions that were perfectly Ok with the previous beta patch. Had to lower settings to prevent freezing - rolled back to last Beta and Ok again with higher settings. Beta's applied over official update and cache cleared.

didnt know that thanks, i appreciate the replies...

there were between 70 and 80 files i put in the file il2 cliffs of dover, which caused a launcher crash....

still dont know what i did wrong ... i seemed to do what was told... maybe somebody could make a youtube video of installing a beta patch, thatd be awsome!

i was thinking since i bought from firstflight and then put it into steam to download and that technically its not released in US that steam wouldnt install patches until US release.

thanks for reply..

thinking i offically broke the game thou...when i first unzipped the file thru download(which was a one use file extract) from website, it gave me a bunch of files not folders i put them in the il2cliffs of dover file in steam, which caused launcher crash...

downloaded another file to see the files so i could manually take them out and that zip download gave me 3 folders, which i put into il2cliffsofdover file in steam thinking it would overwrite everything, still got launcher crash, so i started manully taking out files that came with extracted file, still getting launcher crash... so i dont know what to do know ... im lost...

dont know how to launch game in window, so havent tried that ..
thanks for any replies

uninstalling and reinstalling thru steam, just resulted in everything going back to the way it was all screwed up..

would just like to get everything back to the way it was, not knowing at the time steam would automatically install patch when released thinking i had to manually do it,,,,

If you go to Steam Library , right click on IL2 COD and then go to properties and select Verify Cache Integrity it should bring ANY file in your install back to the latest official patch standard.
