The IL-2 series without a doubt.
The reason is because it is the most realistic and great looking WWII flight sim I have ever played or seen. CrazySchmidt. |

Well, I only like flight sims. That's why IL-2 is my one and only game since over 6 years now.
I tried the ToW demo last year but it didn't run on my PC because of huge graphic errors. |

IL-2/1946:
I had never had the opportunity to get or play UBI or 1C games here in the US. Distribution maybe? I will say that I COULD NOT wait until 1946 came out in the states, so a nice Gent named Jason at Go-Gamer in the US got a supply from overseas when they came out. I see where mine was manufactured in Australia I am a great flight simulator fan. Until I heard of IL-2, I was playing Micro$oft Combat Flight Simulator 2. I considered IL-2 head and shoulders above the MS product in both quantity and quality. I consider it a great thing that after the Iron Curtain fell, imaginative people like Oleg where then free to pursue (and share) his love of aviation with us Cheers Triad

IL2:1946
I have always been a flight simmer having flown nearly all that have been released for example, Tomahawk on Sinclair spectrum 48k, F117 Stealth Fighter on Commodore 64, Gunship on Amiga, etc... The reason i like this genre over other genre is the fact that each time you fly, you can discover things. you are not forced into a battle against time, you can take things at your own pace, you can now chat online and discuss tactics while you fly. Il2 has a Huge community. Il2 has fantastic mission building options, and the ability to load up your own custom plane skins, so you can literally recreate any fact or fiction mission you desire. That is what i love about Il2 series. The freedom to use your imagination, and have never the same experience each time you play it. I have had so much fun with this sim online, -i remember my new force feedback joystick destroyed my whole desk (it literally shook it apart!) when i was doing a wingless race along the ground with someone online. damn that was funny. -I made a mission called the TB3 dogfight (a coop with 2 TB bombers full of online players shooting from the planes turrets, and other missions, Vodka, Tea Party, Schnapps etc.. all were successful and much played missions among my freinds. -I once shot down an AI plane just as my online flight lead called for help as he was being attacked. the plane i shot down fell 2000 metres with one wing on and collided with the bandit on my buddies 6 !! amazing, lol -I flew through the middle of the rear section of a P39, ripping my wings off, but my pit stayed in tact for me to bail, lol, crazy stuff indeed. Well, there you go. Thats why i like it. So much fun and inventiveness can be had, and you dont get that with most other genres. |

Well before I was a virtual pilot. I was an avid WWII RTS player; Soldiers HoWWII 1c, Blitzkrieg (Nival), Theatre of War 1c,
Now IL2 of course because you have a little of everything in it. It has a very large learning curve I have an infinity for learning, has taught me allot more about WWII and the involvement of other countries and there contribution to the cause Allies versus Axis, and the many inventions that came of it. Bombing runs, Fighter escorts, Ground pounding front line support its a very robust game and has allot to offer as far as training and war tactics used for history practicalities. And most of all It has brought the world together with thousands of virtual pilots together and old WWII pilots playing this on line and communicating over the net with each other on wide subject of WWII. One thing I wish to see in the future is Theatre of War and IL2 melded together for some real on line Mass Multi-player mayhem. Imagine your on comes with your buddy who is in a tank advancing on the enemy and he calls up to you caped over the objective and asked you to ground pound the enemy position in front of him. thanks 1c for some very great WWII games... Now that would be a virtual war.... HurricanIIc V JU88 ASE(ALL SEEING EYE) 102907 Monday ASE report is at 133 IL2 servers/ 6065 people playing it thats just Monday I didnt get a reading for the weekend. HyperLobby As of 10-2907 Monday 419 servers/ 423 people playing IL2 over 1200 on Sunday when I checked. Of course there are more xfire and such which I dont have.
