Default Is it at all possible to run CLoD without Steam?

I know that it's supposed to run through steam, but my father is wondering if there is any way at all that the game could be run without Steam, and if it would be possible to burn the installation files to a DVD. He's trying to asert this before we go and buy it.

Run without Steam = no
Backup downloaded files = yes (CD, DVD or any media/location you can use to store files)

You can launch the game from the launch.exe file.

Yes but the Launcher.exe needs Steam to be open ... there is no getting around Steam

Ok, and so one more thing I'd really like to know, is whether or not I could install the game on two computers and play LAN on one liscense.

That's a curly one ...

You have a maximum of 3 installs per month which allows you to install CoD on different hardware configurations, so yes you can install CoD on two different PC's. BUT, the installs will only work under the one Steam account. So, no, you wont be able LAN the PC's

The only way I can see you doing this is by after activating both installs, make sure you save the Steam login details on the PCs and disconnect the PC from any outside net connection. But I suspect Steam is smart enough to know that the two PC's are using the same CDKey.

If you try this, you do run the risk of your account being banned.
