I had a hard time finding a plane to fly, I kept spawning inside hangars with closed doors. I finally found an airborne Spittie and proceed to patrol over England a bit. I had had enough of that quickly enough and decided to "take the war to the Hun". After a short jaunt across the Channel I started inspecting the airfields for action, and it didn't take long.

Being the sporting type I circled wide around the field to let the two taxing aircraft take off, but of course I ran out of patience again and decided to make a couple of passes on a 109 that had been stationary for some time (I sure hope that wasn't Elixx trying to sort his controls )

After setting the stationary 109 on fire, I decided it might be a good idea to look around some as I was sure I had seen a 109 preparing for takeoff earlier. Then I saw a twin engine, twin tail aircraft above me (110 or a Do17 I suspect) and began to give chase, setting up to sneak up from underneath.

It was not more than a minute into the chase that my lack of situational awareness was rewarded with tracers flashing past my canopy. I jerked the stick in every possible direction I could think of as fast as I could, and sure enough there was a 109 hot on my tail.

The unfortunate 109 driver had little chance in the ensuing dogfight against a Spitfire down on the deck, but He didn't go down for a lack of trying. On the second burst, something large came off the 109, I realized it was the canopy just in time to twist away from the pilot, streaming his parachute.

I circled around and found the German hanging under his fully deployed canopy, the taste of the adrenaline from the fight still fresh in my mouth. I gave him a wing waggle and turned for England, hoping to find that twin somewhere over the Channel.

Of course I never saw him, because my game crashed and brought me back to 2011. But just for a few moments I was in 1940 fighting for my life with another man fighting for his.
Probably the most immersed I've ever been in a flight sim in the 13 years I've been doing this.

Pretty cool. Thanks for the server, I'll be there regularly.
