Cool deja vu (this has happened before)

I can vaguely remember the first release of IL-2 and IL-2FB, there were many issues.

I can only get the program to run on the 'low' settings and then start getting some 'picture stuttering' and strange large 'green oblisks' in the Channel.

If I change aircraft sometimes, the system 'hangs-up'. If I increase the video quality the system crashes with a Microsoft box appearing saying 'Launcher has encounted problems and needs to close'.

On the plus side, the cockpits, aircraft and game interface are superb and I like the map detail - well done Ilya and Oleg.

On the downside, the 'Steam' interface is tiresome and I think a bit of an overkill. It also looks as though we can't 'tweak' our config.sys file any more to match our system specs. The full FMB is not included in the release.

I have just run a 'directx' and noticed I am missing a Gb of Ram. I did have 4Gb, might have a problem with my PC.

My System specs. are:
MS XPSP3 @32bit
Intel Core2 Extreme CPU Q6850@3.00Ghz
3GB Ram (Should be 4GB?)
ATI Radeon HD 4870x2 1024MB memory
MOB Gigbyte P35-DS4
Display Benq 1920x1200 (32bit,60Hz)
SB X-Fi Audio

I think I am in the 'middle band' of PC power (due for an upgrade), so I am sure the flight sim should run much better than it currently is?
