It seems that you are confused as to why there are so many conspiracy theories and prophecies of doom sprouting out of these forums. In hopes of answering your questions let me attempt to bring some light to the equation. First off, you must understand all this excitement and commotion is a product of love. While you and your team have spent years tirelessly working, developing, investing, and God knows what else, we the community have spent years in anxious anticipation. There's hardly a soul present who hasn't basked in the greatness that is IL2. Who hasn't spent hundreds of hours flying and feeling alive immersed month in and month out. Year in year out. A niche but STRONG community has grown out of this wonder and maintained for years. A community that has grown friendships, started families, shared COUNTLESS hours of cumulative time, tools, mods, artistic expression, sheer joy. There's hardly a person among us who hasn't let the excitement of this new future overwhelm them to great heights of hope. So we too have invested. Perhaps not in the same ways you have but in very much real ways. The evidence is in the threads. Emotions are feverishly high. It is from this perspective that I make my point. As this game pushes forward we, the community, are forced to take a back seat position. We see the road on which we travel and yet have so little control over the outcome. As a collective, we do not understand the ins and outs of game development. We are not privy to the political and business tidings that shift the course of the title. We do not have a clear understanding of the complications and ramifications that are presented to your team. By way of internal and external forces. Truthfully this would not be entirely practical. Despite this we have a very clear picture of the road we travel. As consumers we have seen many others travel this road. Few without bumps and hiccups. Some without great accidents. Many that have ended in tragedy. As you continue to work we are grateful. And yet we had hoped this journey would be more inclusive. And hoped that we would be seen not as hungry consumers, but more as investment partners. I believe this is where many of these "questions" spawn. Some misguided but nonetheless legitimate and honest. As you say there is a small segment hell bent, but I see it different. I see it as a community fractured. Some who have asked the tough questions. Others who have an unwavering faith that success is inevitable, as founded as cult religion. All parties and everyone in between hope for nothing but the best. But again, we have little to base our opinions. Little to calm our thoughts. Even as we pass release dates we are left relatively clueless. After all this time, as events have developed and unfolded, we are to find the answers to our most important concerns not from you but in the wake of the deeds done. In the wake of release. What we expect, dare I say deserve, is the honest truth. To be informed. We want to understand the greater picture as you see it. For better or worse the core of us here would have supported to the end. Quote:

Quote from Luthier:
"I just want to say that this is the most ridiculous conspiracy theory yet. 1. The game engine is built from scratch. This... I don't even... I mean... Are you guys insane? Why the HELL would we hide the fact that we're using an old engine if we were? It wouldn't cost us any lost sales, that's for sure. Most conspiracy theories fall apart very quickly because they're pointless, and because of Occam's razor. I have no idea what else to say about this, or how to actually prove that the game is new from scratch, except to release the source code. 2. We are using multiple cores. Details have been published previously. First core is used consistently, other cores have stuff delegated to them when needed. Performance monitoring will give you spikes depending on what's going on in the game. 3. The game is using 2.6 Gigs of RAM because that's how much stuff it needs to keep in the memory? What? Why are we even discussing this? If you really like, we can easily dump another couple of gigs of stuff into memory and keep it there while you play. Would that make Cliffs of Dover a better flight sim? In short, why is this even a topic? Why is there a certain segment of the community who is hell-bent on finding something that we lied to you about? This is becoming extremely tiresome, I have to say. Please just judge the game on its merits as a flight sim, and not on the amount of RAM it takes up. " This is what I have wondered, Tree planted the seed and of course his crusaders the likes of Werner etc took up the chant, but what they were hoping to achieve I have no idea. Personally I believe a few of the nay sayers should apologise, it's one thing looking for bugs etc and another to display total rudeness (of course under the anonymity of the internet) and make up unfounded accusations regarding many things to do with this sim, I still have a laugh at how excited they were when it looked as if all the negativity was proved correct and of course within days many of the issues were resolved by people that systematically tested the game and found fixes, not by yelling "I told you so" and looking for every negative. I just hope that the glass half full brigade don't think there ranting is why this sim has already improved, this has been achieved without all the conspiracy theories, and by the normal means of bug testing/fixing. So crusaders of the glass half full, it's time to remove the tinfoil hats and start to be constructive in your comments, this is the best way for this game to deliver on all it's promise.
