MoTMod NPCs Guide
Here's a list of NPCs encountered in Death to Spies: Moment of Truth.
Note that the screenshots come from forlik's MoTMod 1.11, not the unmodded Moment of Truth. Wiking Division Soldier Actor Name: GermanSoldier Body Texture Name: ngerman_soldier01.dds Head Texture Name: ngerman_head01.dds Weapons: Walther P38, Kar 98k, MP40, StG44, Stielhandgranate Found in: All German missions except Winter Cold Affiliations: 5th SS Panzer Division "Wiking" Description: The 5th SS Panzer Division Wiking was one of the elite Panzer divisions of the thirty eight Waffen SS divisions. It was recruited from foreign volunteers, from Scandinavia, Finland, Estonia, The Netherlands, and Belgium under the command of German officers. During the course of World War II, the division progressed from a motorised infantry division to a Panzer division and served on the Eastern Front during World War II. It surrendered in May 1945 to the advancing American forces in Austria. Josef Mengele served in this division before being assigned to Auschwitz. In both DtS games, they wear an armband to signify they are from the Wiking Division. However, their belt buckle is a Wehrmacht one. Another oddity is that although they have the rank of Private, their NormalMap texture shows their rank as Corporal. Trivia: In DtS, the Wiking Division soldier was just a simple soldier skin. However, in MoT, the role of this uniform varies depending on the mission. Oddly, like other Waffen SS soldiers, they are not allowed into more highly-secure areas despite being a military arm of the SS. Waffen SS Soldier Actor Name: GermanSoldier, GermanSoldierCam Body Texture Name: ngerman_soldier03.dds, ngerman_soldier06.dds, german_soldiercam_body.dds Head Texture Name: ngerman_head03.dds, ngerman_head06.dds, soldiercam_head.dds, soldiercam_head2.dds, soldiercam_head3.dds Weapons: Walther P38, Kar 98k, MP40, StG44, Gewehr 43, Stielhandgranate Found in: All German missions except Winter Cold, King's Riddle and Polish Surprise Affiliations: Waffen SS Description: The Waffen-SS (Armed SS) was the paramilitary arm of the Schutzstaffel ("Protective Squadron") or SS, an organ of the Nazi Party. The Waffen-SS saw action throughout World War II and grew from three regiments to over 38 divisions, and served alongside the Wehrmacht Heer regular army, but was never formally part of it. It was Adolf Hitler's will that the Waffen-SS never be integrated into the army, it was to remain the armed wing of the Party and to become an elite police force once the war was won. Operational control of units on the front line was given to the Army's High Command, but in all other respects it remained under the control of Reichsführer Heinrich Himmler's SS organization, through the SS Führungshauptamt (SS operational command office). At first membership was open to "Aryans" only in accordance with the racial policies of the Nazi state, but in 1940 Hitler authorized the formation of units composed largely or solely of foreign volunteers and conscripts, and by the end of the war ethnic non-Germans made up approximately 60% of the Waffen-SS. After the war at the Nuremberg Trials, the Waffen-SS was condemned as a criminal organization due to its essential connection to the Nazi Party and its involvement in war crimes. Waffen-SS veterans were denied many of the rights afforded to veterans who had served in the Heer (army), Luftwaffe (air force) or Kriegsmarine (navy). The exception made was for Waffen-SS conscripts sworn in after 1943, who were exempted due to their involuntary servitude. In the 1950s and 1960s, Waffen-SS veteran groups successfully fought numerous legal battles in West Germany to overturn the Nuremberg ruling and win pension rights for their members. In both DtS games, they wear camouflage. However, their belt buckle and sleeve eagle (in the case of the green camouflage soldier) are incorrect. Another oddity is that both the orange and green camouflage soldier's NormalMap texture shows the SS symbol on both sides of the collar, which is also incorrect. Trivia: In DtS, the Waffen SS soldier was just a simple soldier skin. The brown-green camouflage soldier is a different actor, but was otherwise just another soldier. However, in MoT, the role of this uniform varies depending on the mission. Oddly, they are not allowed into more highly-secure areas despite being a military arm of the SS. Wehrmacht Soldier Actor Name: GermanSoldier Body Texture Name: ngerman_soldier05.dds Head Texture Name: ngerman_head05.dds Weapons: Walther P38, Kar 98k, MP40, StG44, Stielhandgranate Found in: All German missions except Winter Cold, King's Riddle and Polish Surprise Affiliations: Wehrmacht Description: The Heer was the Army land forces component of the German armed forces (Wehrmacht) from 1935 to 1945, the latter also included the Navy (Kriegsmarine) and the Air Force (Luftwaffe). During the Second World War, a total of about 15 million soldiers served in the German Army, of whom about seven million perished. In both DtS games, you can tell these guys are Wehrmacht by their collar insignia and breast eagle. All Wehrmacht soldiers have the rank of Corporal. Trivia: In DtS, the Wehrmacht soldier was just a simple soldier skin. However, in MoT, the role of this uniform varies depending on the mission. Version 1.10 of MoTMod features new, real Heer uniforms. Waffen SS Driver Actor Name: GermanSoldier Body Texture Name: ngerman_soldier04.dds Head Texture Name: ngerman_head04.dds Weapons: Walther P38, Luger P08, Kar 98k, MP40, Stielhandgranate Found in: All German missions except Winter Cold and Polish Surprise Affiliations: Waffen SS Description: Drivers are responsible for delivering munitions, supplies or extra troops, as well as serving as personal chauffeurs for certain officers. In both DtS games, they can be identified by their green collar. However, their breast eagle is incorrect. Trivia: In DtS, with the exception of Cannibal, the driver was just a simple soldier skin. However, in MoT, the role of this uniform varies depending on the mission. SS Soldier Actor Name: GermanSoldier Body Texture Name: ngerman_soldier02.dds Head Texture Name: ngerman_head02.dds Weapons: Walther P38, Kar 98k, MP40, StG44, Stielhandgranate Found in: All German missions except Winter Cold Affiliations: SS Description: The Schutzstaffel (Protection Squadron), abbreviated SS, was a major Nazi organization under Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party. The SS grew from a small paramilitary unit to a powerful force that served as the Führer's "Praetorian Guard," the Nazi Party's "Shield Squadron" and a force that, fielding almost a million men (both on the front lines and as political police), managed to exert as much political influence in the Third Reich as the Wehrmacht, Germany's regular armed forces. Built upon the Nazi ideology, the SS, under Heinrich Himmler's command, was responsible for many of the crimes against humanity perpetrated by the Nazis during World War II, and most of the particularly egregious ones. Initially numerically smaller than Ernst Röhm's Sturmabteilung ("Storm Detachment," abbreviated SA), the SS grew in size and power due to its exclusive loyalty to Hitler, as opposed to the SA, which was seen as semi-independent and a threat to Hitler's hegemony over the party. Under Himmler, the SS selected its members according to the Nazi ideology. Creating elite police and military units such as the Waffen-SS, Hitler used the SS to form an order of men claimed to be superior in racial purity and ability to other Germans and national groups, a model for the Nazi vision of a master race. During World War II, SS units operated alongside the regular German Army; and in the final stages of the war, the SS came to dominate the Wehrmacht in order to eliminate perceived threats to Hitler's power while implementing his strategies, despite the increasingly futile German war effort. According to the Nuremberg Trials, as well as countless war crimes investigations and trials conducted over the past sixty years, the SS was responsible for the vast majority of war crimes perpetrated under the Nazi regime; in particular, it was the primary organization which carried out the Holocaust. As part of its race-centric functions, the SS oversaw the isolation and displacement of Jews from the populations of the conquered territories, seizing their assets and transporting them to concentration camps and ghettos where they would be used as slave labor (pending extermination) or immediately killed. Chosen to implement the Nazi "Final Solution" for the Jews and other groups deemed inferior (and/or enemies of the state), the SS carried out the killing, torture and enslavement of approximately twelve million people. Most victims were Jews or of Polish or other Slavic extraction, but other racial/ethnic groups such as the Romani made up a significant number of victims. Furthermore, the SS purge was extended to those viewed as threats to "race hygiene" or Nazi ideology—including the mentally or physically handicapped, homosexuals, or political dissidents. Members of labor organizations and those perceived to be affiliated with groups (religious, political, social and otherwise) that opposed the regime, or were seen to have views contradictory to the goals of the Nazi government, were rounded up in large numbers; these included clergy of all faiths, Jehovah's Witnesses, Freemasons, Communists, and Rotary Club members. Foreseeing Nazi defeat in the war, a significant number of SS personnel organized their escape to South American nations. These escapes are said to have been assisted by an organization known as ODESSA, an acronym of the German phrase Organisation der ehemaligen SS-Angehörigen, which translates as the Organization of Former Members of the SS. Many others were captured and prosecuted by Allied authorities at the Nuremberg Trials for war crimes, and absconding SS criminals were the targets of police forces in various Allied nations, post-war West and East Germany, Austria and Israel. Trivia: In DtS, the SS soldier was just a simple soldier skin. However, in MoT, the role of this uniform varies depending on the mission. They are allowed access to some of the more highly-secure areas (this is actually because they are of a much higher rank than other soldiers - all SS soldiers have the rank of Staff Sergeant). In localized versions of DtS, like other Nazi paraphernalia, their swastika armbands are censored. Although SS soldiers are notorious for their black uniforms, the SS actually stopped wearing black in 1939. Another error with the SS uniform is the Wehrmacht belt buckle and incorrect sleeve insignia (Staff Sergeant is not supposed to have any). SS Helferin Actor Name: GermanFrau Body Texture Name: frau_body.dds Head Texture Name: frau_head.dds, frau2_head.dds Weapons: Walther P38 (some are unarmed) Found in: All German missions except Winter Cold and White Head Affiliations: SS Description: SS helferinnen, or female helpers, are auxilaries in the SS. They serve as cleaners, radio operators, or secretaries for certain officers. Trivia: They are the only armed women in the DtS games, though this is infrequent in MoT. Like all female characters, you cannot use their clothes. There is an unused second head texture in MoT's files, "frau2_head.dds". Wehrmacht Officer Actor Name: GermanOfficer Body Texture Name: ngerman_officer03.dds Head Texture Name: ngerman_officerhead03.dds, ngerman_officerhead04.dds Weapons: Walther P38, Luger P08, Stielhandgranate Found in: All German missions except Winter Cold Affiliations: Wehrmacht Description: Wehrmacht officers are responsible for giving orders to soldiers, maintaining discipline and leading their men into battle. They are allowed into more highly-secure areas, and are entrusted with the care of important items, like documents and keys. In both DtS games, you will know they're Wehrmacht officers by their collar insignia. All officers have the rank of Major. However, their caps have a band on them, which was actually worn by junior officers (officers from the rank of 2nd Lieutenant up wear cords on their caps). Trivia: The Wehrmacht officer is just a simple officer skin, and usually has no effect on gameplay. The one exception is in the DtS mission "Die Spies!", where an optional objective requires you to take the uniform of Colonel Jürgen Resch (Wehrmacht officer in a black cap) and summon Adolf Steinglitz (one of the targets) to his office. Version 1.10 of MoTMod features new, real Heer uniforms. Waffen SS Officer Actor Name: GermanOfficer Body Texture Name: ngerman_officer02.dds Head Texture Name: ngerman_officerhead02.dds Weapons: Walther P38, Luger P08, Stielhandgranate Found in: All German missions except Winter Cold Affiliations: Waffen SS Description: Waffen SS officers are responsible for giving orders to soldiers, maintaining discipline and leading their men into battle. They are allowed into more highly-secure areas, and are entrusted with the care of important items, like documents and keys. All officers have the rank of SS-Sturmbannführer (Major). However, their belt buckle and sleeve eagle are incorrect. The collar also has a white border around the edges, and their caps have a band on them, both of which were actually worn by junior officers (officers from the rank of SS-Untersturmführer (2nd Lieutenant) up wear cords on their caps). Trivia: The Waffen SS officer is just a simple officer skin, and has no effect on gameplay. SD Officer Actor Name: GermanOfficer Body Texture Name: ngerman_officer01.dds Head Texture Name: ngerman_officerhead01.dds, ngerman_officerhead05.dds Weapons: Walther P38, Luger P08, Stielhandgranate Found in: All German missions except Winter Cold Affiliations: Gestapo, SD Description: SD officers are responsible for giving orders to soldiers, maintaining discipline and leading their men into battle. They are allowed into more highly-secure areas, and are entrusted with the care of important items, like documents and keys. All officers have the rank of SS-Sturmbannführer (Major). In both DtS games, you will know they're SD officers by the insignia on their sleeve. Other than this, it is an SS officer's uniform, but their belt buckle is a Wehrmacht one. The collar also has a white border around the edges, and their caps have a band on them, both of which were actually worn by junior officers (officers from the rank of SS-Untersturmführer (2nd Lieutenant) up wear cords on their caps). Another oddity is that although they don't have any words on their cuff bands, their NormalMap texture shows the word "Wiking" on the cuff band. Trivia: The SD officer is just a simple officer skin, and has no effect on gameplay. In localized versions of DtS, like other Nazi paraphernalia, their swastika armbands are censored. Dietrich Meltzer Actor Name: Yazik Body Texture Name: yazik_body.dds Head Texture Name: yazik_head.dds Weapons: Luger P08 Found in: Cannibal Affiliations: SS Description: Sturmbannführer (Major) Dietrich Meltzer is the commanding officer of an unspecified German tank base currently producing the latest Ferdinand (which is later to become Elefant) SPGs. Because of his knowledge of Ferdinand, Strogov is tasked by SMERSH to abduct him and steal Ferdinand-related documents from his safe. Trivia: In reality, at the time Cannibal is set, Ferdinand couldn't have been a secret from Soviet intelligence because it was used in the Battle of Kursk (1943). Meltzer has a unique animation, and as of MoTMod 1.02, still has his DtS skeleton. In localized versions of DtS, like other Nazi paraphernalia, his swastika armband is censored. Version 1.10 of MoTMod features a revamped version of Cannibal. Notable changes include setting the location of the tank base to Goslar, the changing of Ferdinand to Jagdpanther, and the changing of Meltzer from a unique SS officer with a DtS skeleton to a unique Wehrmacht Panzer general with an MoT skeleton. Strogov cannot use his uniform! Last edited by Liz Shaw; 04-29-2014 at 06:23 PM. |

Waffen SS Winter Soldier
Actor Name: GermanWinterSoldier, GermanWinterSoldier2 Body Texture Name: german_soldier_winter01.dds, german_soldier_winter02.dds Head Texture Name: sol_head02.dds Weapons: Walther P38, Kar 98k, MP40, Gewehr 43, Stielhandgranate Found in: Winter Cold Affiliations: Waffen SS Description: Waffen SS soldiers equipped for winter operations. Trivia: The winter soldiers have hat meshes and head textures of early German soldier designs. However, when you take their uniforms, their face changes to that of the finalized German soldier. Unlike winter officers, winter soldiers have no unique nude model, so they use the nude model of normal German soldiers. During development of MoTMod, since winter soldiers do not make a comeback in MoT missions, forlik somehow got Haggard Games to adapt the winter soldier skeletons for MoT use. The same went for Strogov in winter soldier uniforms. However, as of 1.11, Strogov has his old DtS head texture when wearing a winter soldier's uniform. Waffen SS Winter Officer Actor Name: GermanWinterOfficer Body Texture Name: german_officer_winter01.dds, german_officer_winter02.dds Head Texture Name: of_head03.dds Weapons: Luger P08 Found in: Winter Cold, Die Spies! Affiliations: Waffen SS Description: Waffen SS officers equipped for winter operations. Most of their insignia are incorrect. The green uniform has Obersturmführer (First Lieutenant) collar insignia on one side and SS-Oberstgruppenführer und Generaloberst der Waffen SS (the highest Waffen SS rank) on the other. Both uniforms have Rottenführer (Senior Corporal) sleeve insignia and Hauptsturmführer (Captain) epaulettes. Trivia: The winter officers have hat meshes and head textures of early German officer designs. During development of MoTMod, since winter officers do not make a comeback in MoT missions, forlik somehow got Haggard Games to adapt the winter officer skeletons for MoT use. The same went for Strogov in winter officer uniforms. However, as of 1.11, Strogov has his old DtS head texture when wearing a winter officer's uniform. Gestapo Prison Warden Actor Name: GermanYellow Body Texture Name: german_yellow.dds Head Texture Name: german_yellow_head.dds Weapons: Luger P08 Found in: Stronghold Affiliations: Gestapo Description: This fellow is responsible for ordering interrogations of prisoners. Trivia: His uniform resembles that of an SA brownshirt. In localized versions of DtS, like other Nazi paraphernalia, his swastika armband is censored. His rank is actually that of a Sergeant, which is not a senior officer's rank. Andreas Meyer-Mader Actor Name: RasplataOfficer01 Body Texture Name: Shtandartenfurer_Body.dds Head Texture Name: Shtandartenfurer_Head.dds Weapons: Luger P08 Found in: Paycheck Affiliations: Waffen SS, 1st Eastern Muslim SS Regiment Description: A WWI veteran, Standartenführer (Colonel) Andreas Meyer-Mader would afterwards serve as one of Chiang Kai-shek's advisors. In Ukraine, his group "set out to strangle and annihilate every living thing". After being promoted to his current rank, he was given command of the 1st Eastern Muslim SS Regiment. Because of this, and the fact that his units are made up of Soviet citizens, Strogov is tasked by SMERSH to assassinate Meyer-Mader and his apprentices, Obersturmbannführers Bartels and Knut. A previous assassination attempt on Meyer-Mader has caused the Germans to increase security around him. He usually sits at his desk on the second floor in the main building, but he occasionally goes to the radio room to fiddle with one of the radios. You could use this opportunity to your advantage. Trivia: His neck cross is incorrect. As of MoTMod 1.11, he still has his DtS skeleton. You cannot take his uniform! Wenk Bartels Actor Name: RasplataOfficer02 Body Texture Name: Officer_Body_01.dds Head Texture Name: Officer_Head_01.dds Weapons: Luger P08 Found in: Paycheck Affiliations: Waffen SS, 1st Eastern Muslim SS Regiment Description: Obersturmbannführer (Lieutenant Colonel) Wenk Bartels is one of Andreas Meyer-Mader's apprentices. Bartels is a known alcoholic, and is often seen drinking with an SD officer. Use this knowledge to your advantage! Trivia: He is said to be an Obersturmbannführer, but his collar insignia and epaulettes are those of an Obersturmführer (First Lieutenant), three ranks below Obersturmbannführer. The collar also has a white border around the edges, which was actually worn by junior officers. As of MoTMod 1.11, he still has his DtS skeleton. You cannot take his uniform! Initially, when MoTMod came out, there was a bug which prevented Bartels from drinking. MoTMod 1.01 onwards corrects this! Heinrich Knut Actor Name: RasplataOfficer03 Body Texture Name: Officer_Body_01.dds Head Texture Name: Officer_Head_02.dds Weapons: Luger P08 Found in: Paycheck Affiliations: Waffen SS, 1st Eastern Muslim SS Regiment Description: Obersturmbannführer (Lieutenant Colonel) Heinrich Knut is one of Andreas Meyer-Mader's apprentices. He is seen kissing his secretary, so your options are limited... In the English version of DtS, the objective which gives details about assassinating Knut mistakenly refers to him as "Henry Knut" (Henry being an Anglicized version of Heinrich). Abwehr School Instructor Actor Name: GermanYellow Body Texture Name: german_yellow02.dds Head Texture Name: german_yellow_head.dds Weapons: Luger P08 Found in: Die Spies! Affiliations: Abwehr Description: These fellows are responsible for the training of new officers. Trivia: In localized versions of DtS, like other Nazi paraphernalia, their swastika armbands are censored. They actually have the rank of Sergeant, which is not a senior officer's rank. Hans Himmel Actor Name: StandartenfurerSS Body Texture Name: standartenfurer_body.dds Head Texture Name: standartenfurer_head.dds Weapons: Luger P08 Found in: Die Spies! Affiliations: SS, Abwehr Description: SS-Standartenführer (Colonel) Hans Himmel is the principal of the Abwehr intelligence school in Krakow. In addition to stealing the files on German agents, Strogov is tasked by SMERSH to assassinate Himmel and his deputy, SS-Sturmbannführer Adolf Steinglitz. Trivia: In reality, the Abwehr didn't get along with the SS. Many of the Abwehr's operatives — including Canaris himself — were in fact anti-Nazi and were involved in many assassination attempts against Hitler, including the most serious one on July 20, 1944. Canaris even employed Jews in the Abwehr and used the agency to help a small number of Jews to escape from Germany into Switzerland. But perhaps the biggest reason was that Canaris himself sought to undermine the Nazi cause. So it's weird for a high-ranking SS Colonel to be in charge of an Abwehr school in occupied Poland. In DtS, the opening cutscene for Die Spies! claims that the documents can only be found in a safe in Himmel's office, when in fact two separate documents are found elsewhere in the school. Another oddity is that both Himmel and Steinglitz have the word "Wehrmacht" on their cuff bands. Himmel has an MoT skeleton in MoTMod despite only appearing in a single DtS mission. In localized versions of DtS, like other Nazi paraphernalia, his swastika armband is censored. Strogov cannot use his uniform! Adolf Steinglitz Actor Name: ShturmbanfurerSS Body Texture Name: shturmbanfurer_body.dds Head Texture Name: shturmbanfurer_head.dds Weapons: Luger P08 Found in: Die Spies! Affiliations: SS, Abwehr Description: SS-Sturmbannführer (Major) Adolf Steinglitz is the deputy principal of the Abwehr intelligence school in Krakow. Another oddity is that both Himmel and Steinglitz have the word "Wehrmacht" on their cuff bands. Steinglitz has an MoT skeleton in MoTMod despite only appearing in a single DtS mission. In localized versions of DtS, like other Nazi paraphernalia, his swastika armband is censored. Strogov cannot use his uniform! SS Doctor Actor Name: GermanDoctor Body Texture Name: doctor_body.dds Head Texture Name: doctor_head.dds Weapons: Walther P38 Found in: Removal, Lightning, Polish Surprise Affiliations: SS Description: SS doctors are stationed in infirmaries tending to the sick and injured. Doctors in concentration camps were notorious for performing experiments on prisoners. Josef Mengele is a notable SS doctor. Trivia: SS doctors share the same model as the American scientists, although the only differences are their black trousers and Totenkopf (Death's Head) necktie. Their surgery cap and mask meshes are introduced in MoT. SS Nurse Actor Name: GermanNurse Body Texture Name: nurse_body.dds Head Texture Name: nurse_head.dds Weapons: Walther P38 (normally unarmed) Found in: Removal, Lightning, Polish Surprise Affiliations: SS Description: SS nurses are stationed in infirmaries tending to the sick and injured. They have the Luftwaffe eagle on their cap. Trivia: SS nurses are normally unarmed, however there's one armed nurse in Polish Surprise. This makes SS nurses the second female characters in the DtS games who are armed, after the SS helferinnen. Like all female characters, you cannot use their clothes. Moosburg Concentration Camp Warden Actor Name: GermanGrey Body Texture Name: grey_body.dds Head Texture Name: grey_head.dds Weapons: Luger P08 Found in: Removal Affiliations: SS Description: Wardens are responsible with tasking prisoners for a specific job on the prison camp territory. They have SS-Untersturmführer (Second Lieutenant) insignia, but the eagle on their cap is a Luftwaffe one. Trivia: The wardens still have their DtS skeleton in MoTMod, even though Strogov in the warden's uniform (despite his DtS head texture) has an MoT skeleton. They also wear an armband signifying they're from the 5th SS Panzer Divison "Wiking". Luftwaffe Pilot Actor Name: GermanPilot Body Texture Name: pilot_body.dds Head Texture Name: pilot_head1.dds, pilot_head2.dds Weapons: Luger P08 Found in: Lightning Affiliations: Luftwaffe Description: At the outset of the war, the Luftwaffe was one of the most modern, powerful, and experienced air forces in the world, dominating the skies over Europe with aircraft much more advanced than their foreign counterparts. The Luftwaffe was central to the German Blitzkrieg (lightning war) doctrine, as the close air support provided by various medium two-engine bombers, Stuka dive bombers and an overwhelming force of tactical fighters were key to several early successes. However, unlike the British and American Air Forces, the Luftwaffe never developed four-engine bombers in any significant numbers, and was thus unable to conduct an effective long-range strategic bombing campaign against either the Russians or the Western Allies. The Messerschmitt Bf 109 was the most versatile and widely-produced fighter aircraft operated by the Luftwaffe and was designed when biplanes were still standard. Many versions of this aircraft were made. The engine, a liquid cooled Mercedes-Benz DB 601, initially generated up to almost 1,000 hp (750 kW). This power increased as direct fuel injection was introduced to the engines. The kill ratio (almost 9:1) made clear this plane was far superior than any of the other German fighters during the war. In this regard it was followed by the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 at 4:1. This plane had relatively short wings and was powered by a radial BMW engine. The Junkers Ju 87 Stuka was a main asset for Blitzkrieg, able to place bombs with deadly accuracy. The leader of the Luftwaffe was Hermann Göring, a World War I fighter ace and former commander of Manfred von Richthofen's famous JG 1 (aka "The Flying Circus") who had joined the Nazi party in its early stages. In the summer and autumn of 1940, the Luftwaffe lost the Battle of Britain over the skies of England, the first all-air battle. Following the military failures on the Eastern Front, from 1942 onwards, the Luftwaffe went into a steady, gradual decline that saw it outnumbered and overwhelmed by the sheer number of Allied aircraft being deployed against it. Towards the end of the war, the Luftwaffe was no longer a major factor, and despite fielding advanced aircraft like the Messerschmitt Me 262, Heinkel He 162, Arado Ar 234, and Me 163 it was crippled by fuel shortages and a lack of trained pilots. There was also very little time to develop the new aircraft, and they could not be produced fast enough by the Germans, so the jet- and rocket-powered planes proved to be "too little too late". Trivia: The head texture "pilot_head1.dds" is used for the two test pilots you're supposed to capture. Luftwaffe Mechanic Actor Name: GermanMechanic Body Texture Name: mechanic_body.dds Head Texture Name: mechanic_head1.dds, mechanic_head2.dds Weapons: Walther P38 (some are unarmed) Found in: Lightning Affiliations: Luftwaffe Description: Mechanics are responsible for repairing aircraft and equipment. Trivia: The head texture "mechanic_head2.dds" is used for the two OSS agents waiting at the entrance of Bletchley Park in Dora. Heer mechanics in Jagdpanther (MoTMod 1.10) are based on Luftwaffe mechanics. German Worker Actor Name: GermanWorker Body Texture Name: tanktop_body.dds Head Texture Name: tanktop_head1.dds, tanktop_head2.dds, tanktop_head3.dds Weapons: Walther P38 (some are unarmed) Found in: King's Riddle, White Head, Polish Surprise Affiliations: Waffen SS Description: Workers are responsible for repairing equipment and the packing and unpacking of munitions and supplies. Kriegsmarine Sailor Actor Name: GermanSeaman Body Texture Name: navalman_body1.dds Head Texture Name: navalman_head1.dds, navalman_head3.dds Weapons: Walther P38, Kar98k Found in: King's Riddle Affiliations: Kriegsmarine Description: The Kriegsmarine (War Navy) was the name of the German Navy between 1935 and 1945, during the Nazi regime, superseding the Reichsmarine, and the Kaiserliche Marine of World War I. The Kriegsmarine was one of three official branches of the Wehrmacht. It grew rapidly during German naval rearmaments under Plan Z, a large plan calling for the construction of many naval vessels. The ships of the Kriegsmarine, some of which (mostly battlecruisers) were made under Plan Z, fought during the Spanish Civil War and World War II. Its most famous ships were the U-boat wolf packs, constructed after Plan Z was abandoned on the eve of World War. They were submarine groups which seriously harassed Allied convoys during the Battle of the Atlantic. Along with them, pocket battleships managed to disrupt Allied shipping in the earlier years of the war before being halted by convoy escorts. At the end of the Second World War, the Kriegsmarine's remaing ships were divided up amongst the Allied powers and were used for minesweeping. Trivia: The sailors have the words "Marineschule Wesermünde" on their caps. Kriegsmarine Mechanic Actor Name: GermanBoatMechanic Body Texture Name: boatmechanic_body.dds Head Texture Name: boatmechanic_head.dds, mechanic_head1.dds, mechanic_head2.dds Weapons: Walther P38 (some are unarmed) Found in: King's Riddle Affiliations: Kriegsmarine Description: Mechanics are responsible for repairing ships, submarines and equipment. Trivia: Kriegsmarine mechanics and their Luftwaffe counterparts have the same body texture map, but different model shape. Last edited by Liz Shaw; 04-29-2014 at 06:32 PM. |

Kriegsmarine Submariner
Actor Name: GermanSeaman Body Texture Name: navalman_body2.dds Head Texture Name: navalman_head2.dds Weapons: Walther P38, Kar98k Found in: King's Riddle Affiliations: Kriegsmarine, U479 Crew Description: German submariners were notorious in both World Wars for the sinking of thousands of tons of Allied shipping. Trivia: The submariners are just another sailor skin. Submarine Captain Actor Name: GermanCaptain Body Texture Name: boatcaptain_body.dds Head Texture Name: boatcaptain_head1.dds Weapons: Luger P08 Found in: King's Riddle Affiliations: Kriegsmarine, U479 Crew Description: The captain of the submarine U479, which has an Enigma cipher machine on board. He has in his possession a combination to a safe in the radio room containing the Enigma's cipher book, and has the schematics of the T-5 Zaunkönig acoustic torpedos in his office. Trivia: An unused second head texture is present in MoT's files - "boatcaptain_head2.dds". Gerd Richter Actor Name: WHShtandartfurer Body Texture Name: standartenfuehrer_body.dds Head Texture Name: standartenfuehrer_head.dds Weapons: Luger P08 Found in: White Head Affiliations: Gestapo, SD Description: Standartenführer (Colonel) Gerd Richter is a Gestapo officer currently in Chateau de Limothe meeting with Ivan Melnik, a Soviet defector with information about the Soviet intelligence network in Paris. In addition to assassinating Melnik, Strogov is also tasked by SMERSH with killing Richter. It grew into the national army of the USSR. Since 1946, after the Second World War, it was called the Soviet Army. The 'Red Army' name refers to the traditional colour of the workers' movement. This represents, symbolically, the blood shed by the working class in its struggling against capitalism, and the belief that all people are equal. On 25 February 1946 (when Soviet national symbols replaced revolutionary national symbols), the Red Army was renamed the Soviet Army (Советская Армия, Sovetskaya Armiya). The Soviet Army was among the largest armies in history, from the 1930s until the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991. Trivia: SovietSoldierNoForm is used in Training and Lightning. Trivia: Volkov may get his name from Konstantin Volkov, a real-life Soviet diplomat who was assassinated by a Soviet agent before he could defect to the British (though it happened at the British Embassy to Istanbul). By eliminating Volkov, Strogov would ensure that the Cambridge Five would not be known publicly for another couple of decades. Both the traitor in Hotel and Ivan Melnik in White Head are based on Volkov. You cannot use his clothes! Ivan Melnik Actor Name: Volkov Body Texture Name: volkov3_body.dds Head Texture Name: volkov3_head.dds Weapons: Silenced Luger P08 Found in: White Head Affiliations: Gestapo Description: Ivan Melnik is a Soviet courier who plans to defect to the Germans. An early model of Melnik exists in MoT's files and is used in MoT's trailer, but in the final product, Volkov's model is reused for him (albeit with a new skin), possibly to make the name "Volkov" synonymous with Russian traitors. You cannot take his clothes! Strogov is also ordered to kill Nikolayev if capturing seems impossible. Trivia: Both Nikolayev and Shestakov are the only NPCs in the DtS games who carry backpacks, but you can't take them off their bodies, because they're actually a mesh. A "Kotlyarov" is mentioned in the VCH briefing for Polish Surprise - whether this is Nikolayev or not is unknown. An unused body texture, "nikolaev_body1.dds" is in MoT's files. It's basically "nikolaev_body2.dds" without the backpack straps. You cannot use his uniform! An unused body texture, "shestakov_body1.dds" is in MoT's files. It's basically "shestakov_body2.dds" without the backpack straps. Shestakov is said to have a wolf tatoo on his chest, but you won't see it since you can't use his uniform. Strogov is tasked by SMERSH with capturing Starikov and two other saboteurs, Nikolayev and Shestakov, without any of their associates knowing and prevent any sabotage attempts. Strogov is ordered specifically to leave Starikov alive, since he's the leader of the group. Trivia: Starikov is said to have a submarine-shaped tatoo on his chest and another one on his arm, but you won't see them since you can't use his uniform. If you fail to follow the two soldiers to the train bridge, Starikov has the sabotage plans on his body. Picking them up will mark the dynamite on your map. Trivia: The hotel guards appear in MoT's files, with an adapted MoT skeleton and Strogov's new head texture when dressed in a guard's suit, yet they don't appear in MoT missions. Presumably they were going to appear in MoT at one point, probably in Shefferd, since their suits resemble those of 1920s-30s American gangsters. Trivia: Oddly, their insignia signifies they're from the 101st Airborne Division. There are also African-Americans among the soldiers, when in reality black soldiers served in separate units during WWII. All American soldiers have the rank of Corporal. During development of MoTMod, since US soldiers do not make a comeback in MoT missions, forlik somehow got Haggard Games to adapt the US soldier skeletons for MoT use. The same went for Strogov in US soldier uniforms. However, as of 1.11, Strogov has his old DtS head texture when wearing a US soldier's uniform. American Officer Actor Name: AmericanOfficer Body Texture Name: american_officer_body.dds Head Texture Name: american_officer_head.dds Weapons: Colt M1911A1 Found in: Project Y Affiliations: Los Alamos Security Description: American officers in charge of security and welfare at the Los Alamos Nuclear Research Laboratory. It was originally known as Schnelltruppen ("Fast Troops"), a motorized command established in the Reichswehr following the First World War, redesignated as Panzerwaffe in 1936 by Generalleutnant Heinz Guderian. The men of the Panzerwaffe, referred to as Panzertruppen (lit. Armoured Troops), were distinguishable by their close fitting black uniforms, known as Panzer wraps.
