And we're all part of a larger more elaborate Nazi plan to recruit pilots.......

Something similar happened to me, I just signed on as a 1 on 1 team battle was starting. my name was not on the player list but i was in the game as sort of a UFO both other players were against each other, their kills would count my kills would drop their score but i obviously recieved no points as i technically didnt exist. was very strange, kind of cool actually.

This does seem to be a connectivity problem then. On xbox if you have any problem connecting to another player you will be unable to join the game which is why nobody on xbox has had this happen. This is probably different on Playstation network, where you can join a game while only having partial connection to the host. This will cause the hosts game to become confused.

As I said, lag alone can't cause wrong spawn points and invisible people in the lobby before the game. This is complete lack of certain needed information because the users router is most probably blocking the ports their PS3 needs open to comunicate properly. It might help to check your NAT status too.

If I recall I think I remember playing against a player who had no plane selected. When I started the game, I had to restart my PS3 as the game wouldn't finish loading.

Wow that is kinda weird. But i've never seen anything like that on the xbox, so it must be a PS3 thing.

I know on the xbox, occasionally, once in a great while a player will show up as 'blue' on the radar (sorta like what R-BADD7 was saying). The blue player isn't on either team and if you shoot it down it doesn't count. But they can still shoot you down.

Strange stuff, but makes it interesting every now and then

Yeah Xbox live seems to know when the communication is bad and just wont let the person in the game.

The blue player thing is a bug, thats got nothing to do with Connection quality/speed.

Just get the player who will be umpiring to search for a dogfight an stay on the searching screen then accept an invite to the CTA game. Their game will think the CTA is a dogfight and when the game starts they will not be put on a side or feature at all on the games scoreboard.

I think we can probably trust each other enough not to need one though.

If you ever see anyone with a blank aircraft slot but they are set to 'ready' leave the lobby. It crashes the PS3 every time.

Also on PS3 the connection error you get when trying to join a game is because the ping is bad.. I also like the phantom lobbies that appear once in a while.. game does not exist...etc which is a ball ache if you're just trying a quick match.
