Xilon's posts are so much easier to read when he's on the Ignore list.

Thanks God, Xilon_X does not represent Italy ... he's from the planet Xilon, sent in exile in our planet by the local authorities, for obvious reasons.

Chill....

I enjoy the Italian material that IS available already in IL-2. It is challenging and fun. There is an Italian voice pack, BTW. Send me a PM if you want the link. @DT: maybe this could be included in a future patch?? We have one sexy bomber (SM.79) and 5 different fighters (CR.42, G.50, C.200, C.202, C.205), some with multiple subvariants in game. I'm sure squadrons for the RA would have been added to DGen if that product was still supported (hence my desire for DCG to replace DGEn in a later DT patch). No new planes or squadrons have been added to the dynamic campaigns since the C.200 became flyable like 3 years ago.

Fast forward to the future...

We will be getting the Re.2000 flyable, AI G.55 (2 subvariants) and an AI Re.2002 & CANT Z.1007 in 4.10 alone. This constitutes a significant portion of the new equipment coming in that patch. Daidalos Team has a number of Italian members and I'm sure that 4.10 will not contain the last Italian additions to stock IL-2.

In conclusion, Italians will not be underrepresented in IL-2 when you take future DT content into account (thanks guys!). Any ommissions are largely the result of circumstance over IL-2's long development. I'd say that currently, Italy has similar representation to the U.K. in IL-2.

Cheers,

I think it's beyond rational arguments with this guy unfortunately. There's so much new content coming and a significant portion is Italian based... but he's still flying off the wall. It's weird and a bit disturbing.

I don't know. In amongst all that weird and whacky "Secret Nazi Wunder Weapon" stuff and explosion clips Xilon is obsessed with he occasionally links some interesting and useful material.

I'll try and get this thread back on topic (Btw. Xilon Il2 was an Eastern Front sim merged with Pacific Fighters a Pacific War sim, soo.. we should be grateful for the Italian content that TD is giving us, or any content that is new because it's FREE). There are many other sim's out there that don't even have the content of one 4.10 patch, and they cost money, so reality check.
Anyhoo I was playing around with some of the new 4.09 planes (that I don't spend a lot of time in), and noticed some great details like blue exhaust tips on the new I-16's, new gunsight damage, and other cool stuff on the Fokkers and Avia. I learned that i can open the canopy on the new I-16 type and lean out the side for landing, this is so helpful and a neat detail, so if this is any indication of the upcoming quality of 4.10 I'm very excited, thanks TD.

Two nations that are usually (if not always) omitted in WWII games are Italy and France.
IL2 now had a great progress with the Italian Air Force, still,I miss ground and sea units.
France still haves only two planes.Wish they could add more, since some of the former Armée de l´Air planes served with both french air forces, with Romania and Bulgaria (and some where captured by Germans, dunno if used at all).An example of this is the D.250.

You mean D.520

You're absolutely right that France and Italy tend to be amongst the major nations omitted from flight sims of the past. Although strictly speaking it wasn't important to involve either in sims of the past since nearly all focused on either the Pacific or Western Europe in 1943 and later. Il-2 was the first Eastern Front sim and the first time that nations like Slovakia, Romania, Italy and Hungary showed up in a sim (nevermind the Russians) at all.

I suspect that all of this will be rectified in the nearish future. Storm of War Battle of Britain already has the full collection of Italian aircraft that participated in that battle (a nearly forgotten contribution). With North Africa being one of the next fronts that will likely be covered by the Storm of War series... both France (Vichy France) and Italy receive a complete treatment. That would include the D.520 as Vichy France operated these against the Torch landings initially.
