Is this add-on still available? Is it worth getting? Does anyone know why it wasn't it put into 1946 with the other add-ons?

oh, you mean "Battle Over Europe"

well, its "nothing" more than missions and skins.

I thought the missions were really rather good and so were the 'skins' and I bought it off ebay a while back.

If you can track it down, it should be really cheap by now, I'd recommend getting it.

Just my opinion.

There was an add on called Battle Over Europe & one called Combat Over Europe.

I created a thread last year entitled add ons which was a list a list of IL2 add ons that I had come accross

its a must if you want to fly allied dgen campaigns over western and central europe (Normandy,Berlin,Ardennes,Hungary)

for the complete dgen campaign experience (if you want to play all campaigns available) you'll need IL-2 1946 4.09 + BOE + OSTFRONT + EnjoyR Dgen patch/update from mission4today.com

although there's a free patch called EnjoyR Dgen patch for no addons includes a few campaigns which are similar to the BOE ones

there are many other addons, but those include scripted missions therefore didnt required the involvement of Starshoy who did the official dgen programming for Maddox games so I would call these dgen addons (Boe + ostfront) official

I would say that it's an extremely worthwhile add-on:

I probably spent more time gaming on the Normandy map than an other,
thanks to this add-on.
If you fly for the RAF you'll find it's lots of fun escorting bombers,
or defending home bases from enemy attack.

Here are some old screenshots showing the variation in available missions:

It works fine in 'IL2 1946'.
I think maybe you need to download a patch to be able to fly for the RAF. I'm pretty sure I found it at Mission4Today.
I think there may be some sort of universal patch for this add-on which enables you to fly lots of different aircraft too,
I have made Mosquito missions and many others in the past with the help of these patches,
or the ones VPmedia mentions (I can't remember exactly which).
Look for Battle Over Europe patches at Mission4Today.
As far as I can recall there is information on the download pages about what you need to install.

Lots of interesting skins are included.
