I'll try to find some interesting pictures to take on the way!

LOL! Better than a tattoo I guess. I await the pictures, this way I can have a vicarious trip to deepest darkest New Guinea without all the sweating. Safe trip!

Sorry for the thread stealing.

To get back on subject, there just isn't much to ask for as far as planes in IL2, but I'll be more than happy when some of the old favorites pop back up in all their SOW glory. I'm sure high altitude fights in p-47's and 109's will be far better.

I always hoped a griffon spitfire or at least a bubble canopy mk.IX would make it in to the sim, sort of a match for all those 109's. Also hoped for a Tyhpoon when the tempest came out (which still has the best cockpit and model IMHO), but I understand the Tempest was a 3rd party project (gibbage?).

Axis - Do-217 (still not here

Allied - P-47N with correct cockpits.....yes,yes...I know Grumman!!!! (Don't mention the war!)

Or just a P-47 with corrected cockpits...I have it on authority that it can be done (in other circles )

Cheers, MP

P-47 is (was) Republic,not Grumman.
Or did they swallowed Republic too?

See, I tried my best to avoid the 'problem' name and you come in and yodel it from the hill top! It was a subtle way of not mentioning the 'real' name....but the name is out of the hat....bugger, no more p-47 updates for me
lol

Cheers, MP

How is it that Accusim and other FSX developers can make a P-47 (and many grumman planes) for sale for flight sim x and not run afoul of these legal issues, but a free patch for a 10 year old sim with a smaller audience cant touch these planes? Honestly is grumman even going to notice, (or care because its not for sale) if a Bearcat or P-47 update slips into a TD patch? Its only good PR for them anyways

According to people in the know NG came very close to stopping Pacific Fighters being released.

People are not making this stuff up.

Wink

Wow, not cool NG, not cool....
I wonder if PF had been made by an american company if they would have felt that way? I honestly fail to see how PF was bad publicity or infringing on NG, its not like the Wildcat/Hellcat are badly modeled, they are very good. Dynamix's Aces of the Pacific, and all those history channel shows, and other games are ok then I guess?
I'm no lawyer so I'm assuming its very complicated and probably not discussed very much here. Ah well, I love those Grumman planes so I'm glad we have what we have, perhaps thats why there is no real f-14 sim either?

I used to mod for Red Baron 2 and 3d many years ago over at SWISSA. Anyways, that sim had a long life, but not like Il2. I just came back to sims this year after a 8 or 9 year absence and was suprised to find TD and Il2 still going, and of course Oleg still answering questions
