Tobruk mission - how to save fuel depot?

OK, my guys have secured the fuel depot in Tobruk, and I have 3 men and the half track for defence. I am now instructed to cut the demolition wires. How? What is the trick to get through this mission?

I never cut any wires, I just sit my guys around and shoot the Brits till the rest of the German guys get there..its like 5 minutes or so.

Just defend and hold out. I usually have a MG, a 20mm AA halftrack, and a jeep. Just keep those two gates covered and be careful where you shoot. After a few minutes of this you win.
