Hi Oleg, hi folks here: that´s my first post here even though I´m following the development of SoW since a long time......thks to NausiKa.com who made a good publicity of the project at SoH.
My question, after being really amazed by the features showed, is the simplest possible: is there a chance in SoW to take whatever airplane of whatever side and taking off from whatever airfield without having to create a mission?
So easy like this and fully enjoying the quality of this superb sim when not having all that time sometimes.......
Thks a lot once more, Oleg, and greetings from Italy!
My best regards,
Gianluca

I'm sure that you will be able to do that...you can do it right now in IL2 using the FMB

I think you mean the QMB. 2 minutes to set up and away you go.

Cheers,

That would mean a "air start" I think, and would not give the "any airport" that the OP seeks...plus a mission would be created in QMB, although "quickly"

i think he means something like how in FSX u can just type in the callsign/name of the airfield u wanna take off from and take off from it... pretty much anywhere...

As the subject of grass runways has come up, I would like to know if we will be landing on bombed airfields after our sorties?

Apologies if this has been answered before.
previous statements by oleg on this indicate bomb damaged airfields (specifically runways, and their integrity) will get gradually rebuilt by AI (either by visible or invisible ground crews and equipment)

iirc oleg also stated that depending on degree of damage, this could be quick or slow (taking hrs or days)

keep in mind historically runways were repaired fairly quickly by ground crews, even if the surrounding buildings took often much longer to reconstruct. but with the sustained german attacks on many southern english bases during the initial BoB, several of those airfields were in the end barely functional, i have no idea to what degree oleg will represent this fine ballance (which is quiet important, because had the germans not switched to attacking london, many of those southern airfields would have been dysfunctional and it could have tipped the balance into the germans favor for dominating the skies in the south)

I mean exactly this; to me it would seem not too difficult...... I could not really understand if this wouldnt´be possible in SoW.

It has nothing to do with the FMB, which works well in Il-2 but with the principle of the sim itself: not a game only but a REAL sim which is also a wonderful game, that´s it!

Thks guys!

Are you freakin' serious? Oleg, the game looks phenomenal. I can't believe some the absolutely far reaching questions that are being asked. Someone also just asked about the smoke trail being too thick in of the other photos. Look, I'm a tactical military aviator, and I can assure you, when gas, oil, and other lube products with the chemical properties of steel and other alloys meet flame, the fire is unbelievably intense. The smoke just as much. I suggest really if you have input, walk your asses over to the studios and start to programming. Oleg, nothing but praise from me. I've been a devoted fan to your simulation from the beginning. Doing great work, can't wait for this.
