Hi to everybody...

Here we go. I think friday is a good day to post regularly, because we usually get some gifts from Oleg and TD. I'll take this opportunity, when forum is crowded, to show some requests, opinions, etc.

I was thinking seriously to post my first request. I have read some posts, that says we have almost all important planes that flew operational during WWII. I need to agree with it at some point: for sure, IL-2 give us a huge diversity of original WWII aircraft, both flyable or AI. But, even this way, IMHO I think there are a lot of them missing around here. I think I can show it to everybody through my posts.

To begin, I'm going to ask for a not so much asked plane, but, anyway, an important plane with operational importance from mid-war to the end:

>>> Dornier Do-217N<<<

Do-217N was a night fighter that helped in the Defence of the Reich, from 1942 and onwards, sharing space, and, many times, contesting, with Me-110 and Ju-88C. Aircraft production in Germany during that time was a hard challenge, and Dornier was losing it, mainly for Junkers. Pilots didn't like Do-217 to much. They considered it a heavy plane for the fighter purpose, and less maneuverable than Ju-88C. Anyway, and even with the project cancelled by RLM, Dornier kept developing Do-217, and the N series became a well known and produced aircraft. The main advantage of Do-217 during 1942 and early 1943 was its heavier armament compared with Ju-88C that time. Here is a simple scheme:

http://ww2drawings.jexiste.fr/Files/.../Do-217N-2.htm

I choose this plane as my first request because two main motives:

1st - TD is developing Do-217 to release it in patch 4.10. Then, a lot of work is already done. Okay, there are a lot of difference between the two versions, but the airframe, engines, and geral drawing are the same. Then, I think Do-217N is a kind of WIP...

2nd - I've read some rumours about a night combat mode (not MOD), that could be eventually developed by TD, including new enviroment conditions (weather, clarity, etc), and, of course, use of a fully operational radar system. I can't confirm these rumours. If someone has some light about it, share with us! But, anyway, would be great fly through the night chasing some bombers.

One way or another, I think Do-217 is a very feasible project to be developed. And, finally, we'd have a real night fighter. (Me-110 G2 is good, but we always want more, huh?)

Here is my first thought. I hope someone out there share it with me. Feel free to comment and add some valuable info. Numbers make us stronger.

See you around, people.

Cheers.
